People all around the world love to travel to hilly areas and enjoy the beauty of nature but a few are fortunate enough to stay in such a place and also study. I am one of those fortunate people where every day I wake up to get greeted by the clouds.
Yes, you read it right. The IIM Shillong campus is truly surrounded by clouds where you will often find yourself amidst clouds and experience the true beauty of nature. B-school life is always full of excitement and along with that the beauty of the campus adds to it. The tall trees, the chirping of the birds makes our bonds and friendship much livelier. The sunrise and the sunset never bores us and we somehow manage to find newness in it every day.
As I talk of the beauty of the campus I can’t ignore the family to which we all belong to. Considering both the first and the second years we are not just a batch of three sixty people but a family. One unique thing about the campus is that we all know each other and this brings us closer and strengths the bond within the family. This bond is spread across all aspects of our life from getting an A in an assignment to celebrating “Dahi Handi” together to the late-night gossips over a plate of hot Maggi.
Where else in India can you find a curriculum, which has a trek as a part of it. Mentioning of treks there are so many places to visit that it always provides us with an option for a weekend gateway and you will never be short on options. An early morning walk on the hilly roads with a cup of tea always acts as a stress-buster and is so refreshing. Coming from a metro city I never realized what living amidst so much natural beauty can feel like.
During spring, the lawns are filled with beautiful flowers of white and yellow colour which makes the campus a paradise. The campus with its warmth takes away all the negativities from my life and fills it with positive vibes and energy. Talking of natural beauty not mentioning about cherry blossom festival will be a crime. During October-November months of every year the campus trees are covered with pink flowers which is a treat to the eyes and the senses. This natural beauty is not found in any other parts of the country and a phenomenon which only we, the residents of the campus in clouds can experience. All these make my campus truly one of a kind.
The ABG company for which I want to work for and its reason
The Aditya Birla Group company for which I want to work for is Madura Fashion and lifestyle. Madura Fashion and Lifestyle has some phenomenal brands under it like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England which are the frontrunners in the clothing segment. Having a liking for marketing, advertising and brand communication and having used these brands for quite some time now if given a chance I will definitely want to work in this domain. Also, since I am quite familiar with this sector and with these brands, I feel that I will excel in this field thus it is the company of my choice.
