IIM Shillong, the campus in clouds or to be precise, the campus which never fails to amaze with its beautiful surprises from the nature.
A year has passed in this campus and it still seems like yesterday that I had stepped here with dreams and aspirations. The journey over this period has taught me something new everytime – be it the lessons taught by the Facilitators inside the classroom, the numerous experiences and habits of the fellow students or the natural beauty of the city.
This was the first time I was staying away from home in a residential campus and IIM Shillong did not disappoint me at all. The jouney was not all smooth but the bumpy rides were also a learning that the campus offers unintentionally.
Though it is cold almost throughout the year and we roam about in colourful hoodies most of the time, but no one is tired of it. This is because the campus offers a beautiful picture to witness in almost every season. Once it is painted all lavender and the flowers spreading all across the green ground gives one a perfect spot to click the appropriate shot. The pink cherry blossoms brings out the kid in each one of us where everyone just keep on staring at the beautiful pink flower in awe.
When the mind is all blocked up and things seem to be awry, a walk through the Scholar’s Path and witnessing the different shades of colors in the sky changing can definitely make one forget about all the tensions and problems in life.
Apart from the natural beauty the 360 students of the two years makes the IIM Shillong family complete. A greeting with a smile is ensured when we pass each other. Crazy stories shared, waking up till late nights to complete group assignments, cracking lame jokes, going to the night canteen & binge eating, walking about the campus, talking one’s heart out to a friend, helping the peer to understand a subject, sharing the future entrepreneurial plans, apprehensions about the future and always supporting one another - one will get all these sweet little moments here.
Though the campus is situated in a quiet place like Shillong – but the mesmerising natural beauty, the ever supporting faculty and the over the top enthusiastic students make the IIM Shillong campus an experience which one would cherish throughout his or her lifetime.
