IIM Indore has situated 25 Km out of Indore city near Rau. The first thing anyone notices while arriving at the institute is the unique location of the campus. Situated on a solo hill, the campus can be seen from miles away and looks real beautiful at night when all is lighted up. Daily trekking up and down the stairs for the classes is an experience.

Something that is unique about IIM Indore is the initiatives that it takes to keep the students engaged and in contact with the industry. Industry Interface Office of the institute carries out the IIP program in PGP 1 which allows students to work on a live project in close collaboration with industries and companies based around Indore area. Along with group work, it also gives students a flavor of real industry problems and issues that are encountered while working on a real project which cannot be captured through case-based studies etc. Working on actual problems which showed tangible results was a great learning experience.

Other than that, the campus also included Rural Immersion Program in PGP 1 in which students are sent in a group of 4-5 to rural villages. My group was allotted the village Kakadada which is near Indore and we had to work on the Swachh Bharat Mission and conduct survey and other such things. To experience rural life and interact with people who have led life which is in stark contrast to ours provided great learning for me and should be incorporated in every B school. We also interacted with the district head and told him about the grievances of the people of the village ranging from fluoridated water and other issues. It made us more sensitive towards the needs of less privileged people.

Something I found unique and fun was the weekly screening of the newly released Bollywood flicks in the new auditorium. Due to the distance from the city, the new movies released movies are screened on the campus itself on the weekend and attended by students and faculty alike. During the screening of Padamavat, there was so much crowd that they had to screen the movie twice!! Snacks etc. are also easily available and allows one to enjoy the movie to the fullest.

Which ABG Company would you like to work for?

If I get an opportunity, I would like to work for Aditya Birla Capital. I am inclined towards finance and would like to work for one of the biggest NBFC in the country. It has life insurance, asset management, private equity, corporate finance, structured finance, insurance broking, wealth management, equity broking, currency broking, commodity broking, financial advisory services, housing finance, pension fund management and health insurance. Working with a company so intricately tied with the Indian economy would be a dream come true for me. Also, the concepts of private equity intrigue me and if I get the chance, I would like to explore that area
