President and Director of MICA, Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta’s essay titled “Creating Educational Excellence: The Role of Culture at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad” featured in a prestigious scholarly publication entitled 'The Future of Indian Universities: Comparative and International Perspectives'.
An edited compilation by Jindal Global University Vice Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, the book has been published by Oxford University Press. It was unveiled at a high profile function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 17th July by Nobel Laureate Dr. Amartya Sen. The first copy of the book was presented to Hon’ble President Pranab Mukherjee.

The 482 page long volume is a fine specimen of academic writing, scholarship, and institutional experiences on critical issues in higher education. The chapters are authored by leading scholars in the fields of law, liberal arts, international relations, and science and technology studies, and reflect the multiple approaches necessary to address the most difficult challenges of our times. The book also enunciates global and comparative perspectives from eminent Thought Leaders viz. Dr. Shiv Vishwanathan, Dr. Indira Parikh, Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon, Pramath Raj Sinha etc.
Dr. Mehta was present at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the book launch event and he said, “It was a memorable occasion – and one of the last public events by President Mukherjee. The fact that he had sought to be known as the “Education President” made it very poignant.”
