Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
My association, or more appropriately my family’s association with Birla group exist from long ago. I belong to Pilani, Rajasthan. My great grandfather and grandfather have lived there. Values and cultural influence have been huge in my family. Stories of community work, be it empowering farmers, be it industrialization and employment in the rural areas used to be the highlight of my trips during childhood and has made me a socially responsible person. These values imbibed in my family are there to stay and are an integral part of me.
A few months back, I went back with my father to sell our ancestral property and it brought back all the memories and stories that I heard from my grandfather growing up. Today, I take pride to be associated with the group in many different ways. I wear clothes purchased at Pantaloons fashion retail. My uncle is a distributor of Ultra Tech Cement in my Home town. Probably, the bike I drive has a tire with carbon particle procured from Aditya Birla group subsidiaries. I am thankful of Aditya Birla Group for various direct and indirect ways in which they have contributed to my family and millions of others.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life
I joined my first company, a pharmaceutical company as a fresher. After 6 months of induction, I was assigned as shift incharge of a facility that produced 20% volumetric API capacity of the entire company’s API production from the unit. As shift incharge, I was responsible for all on-field production activity of the plant and executing cost-saving 6 sigma project. We use to work in 3 shift of morning, evening and night sequentially. One month into working management decided to get the facility audited for the Latin American Market. An Audit is the most crucial activity of a pharmaceutical company and required a lot of preparatory work. Although being new to this environment, I worked 15 hours shift instead of 9 hours regular shift for one complete month with work of double intensity i.e. operating at full capacity and renovation of the plant to meet audit guidelines. That one month was really challenging in terms of workload and pushed me to my limit. After one month of hard work, we faced and successfully cleared the audit with no critical observation. It was the team victory and all hard work felt very small in comparison to appreciation and recognition we got from management. Eventually, I was given an opportunity to lead plant as plant incharge. This experience really helped me realize my capacity to do impactful work and filled me with the confidence to pursue my future aspirations.
