Part: A - Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
The values and the success of the Aditya Birla Group can be traced back to the inspiring ideals and vision of two legendary leaders, who established the foundation of the Group in India and overseas, Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla and Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla.
The roots of the Aditya Birla Group date back to the 19th century in the picturesque town of Pilani set amidst the Rajasthan desert. It was here that Seth Shiv Narayan Birla started trading in cotton, laying the foundation for the House of Birla.
Employing over 1.36 lakh employees from 42 different nations, the Group has been ranked Number 4 in the global ‘Top Companies for Leaders’ survey by Aon Hewitt, Fortune Magazine, and RBL, and ranked Number 1 in Asia Pacific for 2011.
Part: B - How did I overcame the challenges?
So often we find ourselves on autopilot - waking up in the same home, putting on the same clothes, taking the same transportation to the same-old job. Even our New Year’s resolutions to change barely make it past Valentine’s Day.
And, while it’s perfectly natural for humans to crave routine, there’s much to be discovered outside of the confines of our comfort zones.
“When we begin to see things differently and look around us we open ourselves up to new possibilities and new opportunities and can clear out fear.” It’s usually, the fear, or the energy of the fear, that’s greater than what we actually have to do and change.
As scary, ambiguous and uncertain life may have seemed, let me tell that things figure themselves out.
Life keeps throwing challenges, what matters is not winning but the will to win.
The hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of life. To keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end. Before giving CAT, I wanted to bring back everything that had ever hurt, all the struggles I had been through, storing all of that raw energy inside and using it to drive myself during CAT.
I have learned more in my life whenever I have failed rather when I succeeded at something. The unique experience of failing to score good percentiles in so many mocks taught me the value of perseverance. This ability to bounce back after failures is something that I take great pride in, even to this day.
Everyone at some point in their life has experienced a moment where they were the underdog. Where the odds were stacked against them, where they had to fight through never-ending struggle, where they were expected to be beaten and quit. Our individual battles may be different, but collectively we are all fighting the same underdog fight and the stronger your opponent is, the stronger you will be forced to become.
But in the end, it’s not about looking at a piece of paper and saying that I have done this, I have scored that. It’s about experiencing all those emotions, be it nerves, excitement or the possibility of anything happening. Win or lose, these emotions, this time will stay with you forever.
