I have been honing my personality from my days at school. All my achievements in academics, extra-curricular activities & sports have been towards attaining the skills like integrity, having foresight, ability to inspire, coordinate and effective team building while gaining technical expertise alongside. I love change and always embrace it. Change gives an opportunity for everyone to make an impact in the world. I wish to leverage the change and move ahead with full throttle. I have a habit of developing relationships with people who are very different than me. The differences include biological, physical, functional, political, cultural and socioeconomic. I am courageous enough to abandon a practice that has made me successful in the past.
I was the founder of a start-up called LaserRays LLP and have been able to understand the series of successes and failures having skin in the game. The startup was initially based upon a certain objective. As we looked at the journey going downhill, we made multiple efforts to get it back. Although the efforts went unsuccessful, I learnt 3 important things. First one was that 90% of the time we face people problems. Once people problems are rectified, the rest 10% of the problem solves itself. The second learning is that there is a huge difference in the effort it takes to make strategies at the top and getting it implemented at the ground level. Third important learning was to abandon a practice even though it was successful in the past. This failure early in my career helped me learn many important lessons.
Learning from these failures, I improved myself diligently. My greatest achievement was turning around a loss-making retail outlet into a profit making one during the course of my MBA Summer Internship. I was responsible for P&L, Customer Satisfaction, Staff Behaviour and Operational activities. The duration was for 2 months. I was provided with the autonomy to implement any changes or strategies I feel was right. I was able to meet the company requirements, hit the monthly sales targets and ended up with the highest customer satisfaction score for the store among all of the North India chain of stores. The staff had received their monthly incentive for collectively meeting the sales targets and I was the happiest of them all to see their smiling faces.
I am someone who is preparing myself not for the comfortable predictability of yesterday but also for the realities of today and all of those unknown possibilities of tomorrow.
