Part A: Aditya Birla Group, the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate in India has a major presence in my life. From giving a roof over my head (Birla cement) to providing a floor to sleep; from connecting me to my family(Idea) to giving a middle-income family kid clothes to wear(Pantaloons, Lifestyle) Aditya Birla Group has been there holding my hand, walking like a shadow side by side, catering to my needs whenever I needed something or when I needed to push my standards and match up with the richer section of the society. Till date, I have been an avid follower of Peter England and Van Heusen and almost wear one of the products of Aditya Birla Group each day. The dreams of a kid(me) were fulfilled by the Aditya Birla Group for which I will be forever gracious and loyal. When I left my hometown for the first town to pursue engineering Aditya Birla Group's IDEA was there to connect to my family and friends, whenever I needed them, at cheaper rates. Aditya Birla Group has been like its logo a Rising Sun in my life which kept me motivated and instilled confidence in me to match my competitors and give them a tough competition. Wearing Peter England to my interviews has been a routine for me as it gave me confidence.
Part B: I had a passion for becoming a financial manager for which I was rigorously preparing for CAT, but before that my family suffered from some financial problems. I had to quit my preparations and start finding a job. After a long struggle, I landed a job in Newgen Software Technologies Limited and started working as a software developer where I began my journey to rise. During the first week of my job, my brother met with an accident and had a skull fracture with a broken leg. The accident could have been fatal as he was in a coma for two days, but my brother’s will to live, and a lot of prayers saved him. During this tenure, with such mental pressure, I began to start updating the already existing project (outdated) and introduced MVC 3.0 to our company for which I had to convince my manager, senior project manager, and Assistant Vice-President of our department. After a lot of dilly-dallying all of them agreed but they gave me a year and allotted only one senior as a guide. I successfully finished the project for which I received Pat-on-the-Back-Award from my company.
The second and more important moment was when my passion started interfering with my work as I was good at my work, but I always wanted to be a financial manager. My elder brother and my parents refused to support my studies as now I was looking to focus only on CAT preparations. I had saved some money, but that wasn’t going to be enough. During my Diwali holidays, I went to my hometown and started looking for a job which would support me while I would be preparing for CAT. I found a job in the same coaching where I studied. I had to face a lot of criticisms from my father and elder brother that I should work and prepare and CAT in Newgen itself because it was more of a technical job. I refused to hear them as I knew I had to follow my heart, so I quit my job and started working and studying in my hometown where I wouldn’t need to pay any rent. I had to face many taunts and comments from my family, but I respectfully brushed them aside, I believed in myself and ended up scoring 98.01 percentile in CAT. I know I could have scored more, but I was happy. I ended up making everyone happy and winning everyone’s support again and moreover. I made my father proud once again. I had scored 91.71% in Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and 89.5% in Indian School Certificate but scored 61.04% in my graduation. My father lost faith in me because of the latter, but I won it again with my CAT result and now here I am pursuing my dreams of becoming a Chief Financial Officer of a Fortune 500 company.
