I am Avinash and I am going to present here some splendid moments of my life which I have experienced here.
Coming from an Engineering background along with 29 months of job experience, jumping for an MBA was an excellent escape route from the hectic start-up experience. Although my expectations were not very high but the assurance of a settled life was enough of an incentive to start my MBA journey.
I came here on the day of registration and the location and architecture itself appeared to be the first and apparently the most unique feature of this institute. Located at the top of the Aravalli hill ranges along with a mesmerising view of the surrounding greenery during the rains was enough to abandon the misconception that Rajasthan is sun-baked everywhere with sporadic rains.
The conception of the architecture was equally captivating. With hostels at the top, most of our classrooms have been planned three floors below along with an in-campus lake to stay in-sync with the legacy of this historical city. The ring road surrounding the campus has an especial U-turn which is another distinctive feature as it provides a classic avenue for the couples to feel ecstatic about their choice of IIM Udaipur as well as their partner.
The weeks leading upto the start, and various blogger communities posted a horrible image of MBA journey, which eventually was thrilling indeed and the campus life reminding of my IIT days with an exception of much better sex ratio. The pace of the academics along with an emphasis on team works was another notable feature of this campus.
The period of cultural showdown which is like a socio-cultural and sports festival for this campus added another unique feather in the culture of this college. With almost three night-outs and no shower, different sections were at the fullest in their rivalry and hunt for points to come at the top. With the rigour of academics, the activities of the Cultural committee, CodeRED and B.A.T club present intermittent moments of ecstasy with their plans. Celebration in festivals with a horde of 500 people and in codeRED parties is once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us. The Udaipur Leap day Litfest at IIM Udaipur by the team Potpourri was first of its kind B-School Literary festival and my first experience of a literary festival.
Hopefully, it will leave an unending legacy and become an integral part of the culture of this organisation.
In the end, I would like to share my experience of Rural Immersion which changed my conceptions of rural life in India. Being a native of Bihar which has just above 10 % urbanisation, I had seen extreme poverty in the rural life. However, the remarkable difference in the rural infrastructure, as well as the progressive steps taken by the government, made a lot of difference in the day-to-day life of rural people. Words can’t bind the numerous experiences which I have experienced here.
However, I have tried to present a glimpse of some of the uniqueness which bestows this proud institute.
Which ABG Company and why?
I would like to work in Aditya Fashion and Retail limited as Fashion and retail is a highly competitive space and so it will present immense opportunities for me to learn and progress in my work life. Aditya Birla has some of the most respected and established fashion brands under its domain. I would like to associate my MBA corporate life with this brand. Moreover, it will also present an appropriate platform to apply the marketing, operations and strategy concepts which I have learnt in my MBA life. Moreover, I have experience of about two and a half years in operations which will hopefully give me an edge over my colleagues.
