Following the legacy of making the workplace more inclusive and putting equality to the forefront, Tata Steel has rolled out a new policy for the LGBTQ+ community. Under the new changes, Tata Steel employees will be able to declare their LGBTQ partner details and avail all HR benefits. At a time when more and more dialogue is taking place across the country after the Supreme Court's judgment decriminalizing homosexuality, it is an important step towards making the workplace more inclusive.

Tata Steel has been instrumental in providing employee benefits and believes that a healthy workplace can only be built with collective happy employees. It has also been a pioneer in the field of Diversity and Inclusion in the country with its constant up gradation in the HR policies over the years. Watch this video for a synopsis of diversity at Tata Steel!

Under the new policy, the LGBTQ+ employees and their partners will be able to avail benefits like health check-ups, medical benefits, adoption leave, new-born parent leave, child care leave and inclusion in the unique Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), under which employees get a financial assistance for gender reassignment surgery and 30 days of leave.

To top it all, the LGBTQ+ partners would be called for all corporate events where only spouses of the opposite gender were included earlier. The move from Tata Steel would definitely help in gender sensitizing within the organization and would encourage other corporates to be more inclusive in the workplace. Collective efforts from the corporates would ultimately result in the LGBTQ+ community getting more opportunities in diverse roles and use their expertise to steer the ship for these companies towards development.
