Challenges are the learnings that shape our lives. Without it, life seems to be pointless; it is the way that brings us closer to the destination. Aditya Birla group also took over the rein with the group’s total annual turnover of about $2 billion in 1995, with only a fraction of contribution from overseas. Now the company values about $40 billion and operates in more than 40 countries with more than half of the profit from abroad. All this was possible because the challenges that they faced in their tenure only motivated them to move forward and never pulled them back.
Today, Aditya Birla Group has become an integral part of everyone’s life. Typically Aditya Birla group covers all aspects of the day of the person. The most crucial part of the digital era, i.e., Mobile phone, which is backed by the Largest mobile telecommunication of India ‘Idea Cellular Ltd’. It has about 33.83% market share in India with 393.25 million subscribers. This is the network I have been using for the last seven years and never thought of changing the same. Then it provides a wide range of clothes in the market. It has its retail store enterprise – Madura Fashion and Lifestyle. It also commences a men’s clothing brand – Planet Fashion in 2001. Other famous brands include Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England, etc. It has also acquired retail chain Pantaloons. So with Aditya Birla group, you can always be with the latest trend in the market. These clothes were not my companion only in daily life and office but helped me in the interviews too.
Aditya Birla group has its roots in Financial services too. Aditya Birla Sun life mutual fund, Aditya Birla Capital and Aditya Birla Sun life insurance are the companies which take care of its customers in the financial aspect too. Other initiative includes BHIM ABPB UPI. It helps in transferring the money quickly as you would send a message on the chat.
Aditya Birla Group has its role in cement and chemicals factory too. Its main ventures include Ultratech cement and Grasim industries. The basic necessity of every human being to have a house, and they help in building a strong foundation of the same. The basic entity of the nation’s development is its infrastructure, where road transportation has the foremost importance, and it helps us in building nations’ infrastructure in such a way that there is the least amount of repetition of work. Not only this, but it also owns the Hindalco industries, which is an aluminium and copper manufacturing company. It is one of the largest aluminium rolling companies and one of the biggest producer of aluminium in Asia. It is involved in other things too such as freshwrap, mining industries, Shree Digvijay cement, PSI data systems, etc. It is a significant part of everyone’s life because it’s product ranges from tiny thing to the most significant things we required in our day-to-day life.
This theory of facing challenges in life and then turning these challenges into the milestone should be learned from ABG. Everyone faces one or the other problem in their life, but it depends on the person, whether they make it as a hindrance in the path of their success or use this as a motivation factor to achieve things in life. I can also relate to some instances from this theory.
I gave CAT last year but was not able to score good marks. I was very disappointed and broken. I was thinking to drop the idea of CAT altogether. But then I thought that I should give it one more and a better try. I was working with a reputed IT company. The project was critical and hence required much of the time of the day, but I wanted to crack CAT and get into the most coveted colleges of the country – IIM.
But my dream seemed to be far away from me, as I had no time to give to my study. In addition to this, I felt sick before two months of the exam. This was the time I started feeling that it is next to impossible for me to crack the exam as there was no time left, and the preparation was not proper. But this time, I convinced myself that I could do that, all I need is the right and positive mindset and the willingness to achieve things. I believed that I should be self-confident and not anxious about the exam. So, I gave the exam freely, and just by giving a few mock tests. And the result was I converted many reputed colleges and finally joined IIM Nagpur. This was like a dream come true for me. So, I can now say that it is rightly said that: “When life throws stones on you, learn to build an empire with that.”
