Amar Nandu: Best 50 | India's Most Promising Incoming MBA Students 2025 | IIM Shillong

Amar Nandu is a Chartered Accountant who has also cleared CFA Level II. Before joining the PGP programme at IIM Shillong, he gained 29 months of experience as an Assistant Manager at a CA firm and as a Research Analyst at a stockbroking company. He is also a FIDE-rated chess player and enjoys reading religious books.

He is proud of clearing all levels of CA in first attempt.

At Samco Securities Ltd., Amar tracked the automobile and ancillary sectors, covering quarterly results, company updates, and industry developments. He back-tested and developed investment strategies, prepared recommendations, wrote market and industry updates, and created IPO review notes, videos, and visuals. As an Assistant Manager at Kiran Nandu & Co., he worked on statutory and tax audits, GST annual returns, tax-assessment notices, checklists, and SOPs for private limited companies in sectors including real estate and heavy equipment.

Working at his father's CA firm gave Amar an ownership-oriented view of end-to-end processes and day-to-day management. Combined with his research experience, it has given him exposure to both compliance and investment analysis.

His strengths include domain knowledge, analytical thinking, corporate-compliance understanding, financial modelling, and investment analysis.

He is working on becoming more fluent in spoken English.

Amar studied in a vernacular-medium school until Class 10, where Gujarati was the primary language of instruction and English was taught as a subject. At college, long sentences and unfamiliar vocabulary initially made comprehension difficult. He built fluency by reading newspapers, listening to English news, debates, and speeches, and practising translation until he could think directly in English. The effort helped him complete college and the CA course in English, while strengthening his confidence and persistence.
