The Ascent: From Law to Management, and Beyond

Anirudh’s path to IIM Calcutta has been anything but conventional. Armed with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, he graduated with a stellar CGPA of 8.93/10, emerging as one of the top legal minds of his cohort. His aptitude for analytical reasoning translated into exceptional scores across global management exams — 99.82 percentile in CAT 2023 (including 99.99 percentile in Verbal, ranked 28th among 3.28 lakh candidates), GMAT 740/800, and IELTS 8.5/9.

He received admits from some of the world’s most respected business schools — London Business School, Imperial College Business School, and several IIMs — yet chose IIM Calcutta for its rigorous academic ecosystem and strong global linkages. The decision reflected his clarity of thought and long-term commitment to building a career at the intersection of business and regulation.

Professionally, Anirudh has gained hands-on experience in corporate law, regulatory advisory, and government relations. At DSK Legal, he conducted due diligence on a ₹1,200 crore acquisition and drafted tax notice responses for a ₹200 crore matter. His tenure at Nishith Desai Associates deepened his understanding of international financial structuring, where he worked on Cayman Islands tax planning and prepared six detailed regulatory reports.

As Government Relations Manager at ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple, he led negotiations for a ₹3 crore marble contract, secured a ₹12 lakh annual government subsidy, and played a pivotal role in launching a ₹400 crore tourism and community development project. His ability to navigate public policy, compliance, and stakeholder alignment stood out as a defining strength — proof that leadership, for him, is rooted in service and collaboration.

The Inner Core: Learning, Empathy, and Initiative

Anirudh’s defining strengths lie in his ability to learn rapidly, lead empathetically, and act decisively.

He thrives on fast learning and adaptability. Whether building a large-scale digital infrastructure or leading an on-ground initiative, he absorbs new skills with speed and precision. During his work with ISKCON Visakhapatnam, he built an entire digital ecosystem from scratch — setting up a 100TB content server, managing 60+ Facebook pages, and growing YouTube and Instagram communities that now reach over 3.6 million followers globally. He wasn’t just managing content; he was assembling hardware, producing 60+ videos, coordinating live events, and scaling social impact through digital strategy.

Empathy forms the foundation of his leadership. He invests deeply in understanding his team’s motivations and challenges, believing that trust precedes performance. This people-first approach allowed him to lead volunteers and teams effectively, whether during community initiatives or within structured corporate settings.

Anirudh’s bias for action is equally evident. He doesn’t wait for ideal conditions to execute; he acts, iterates, and refines. It’s this mindset that helped him transform ideas into tangible results — from research publications in four legal journals on topics like insolvency and SEBI regulation, to building new digital revenue streams for religious and social organizations.

One of his most meaningful experiences came during his tenure at ISKCON, when he led the Gokulvanam Project — a 6.5-acre development initiative aimed at creating jobs, supporting vendors, and preserving the environment. Despite balancing demanding academic and professional commitments, Anirudh chose to invest his time and energy into steering the project through bureaucratic challenges. He drafted proposals, engaged government departments, and secured key permissions that turned an ambitious plan into an actionable project. For him, this was not about personal recognition but about lasting community impact — a lesson in how conviction and persistence can turn vision into reality.

The Employable Edge in an AI-Augmented World

In an era defined by convergence — of technology, law, and business — Anirudh’s employable edge lies in his multidisciplinary versatility. He operates confidently across domains that rarely intersect, combining legal acumen, financial modeling, and technical know-how into one coherent skill set.

As a law graduate pursuing an MBA and the CFA, while simultaneously exploring machine learning algorithms in Python, Anirudh embodies the kind of cross-functional capability modern business demands. His approach to problem-solving is holistic: he can assess regulatory frameworks, project financial outcomes, and even prototype data-driven tools for automation and compliance.

This ability to translate across disciplines makes him an invaluable asset in AI-driven business ecosystems. When presented with complex, ill-defined challenges, Anirudh focuses on framing the right questions, ensuring technology is applied meaningfully rather than mechanically. His strength lies in seeing the bigger picture — connecting data, markets, policy, and people into strategies that are both innovative and implementable.

His internship at Procter & Gamble, where he worked in Sales and Strategy, reflects this same adaptability and drive. For him, leadership is not about titles but about making measurable impact — and that is precisely what he has done across every chapter of his journey.
