Arijit Mondal: Best 50 | India's Most Promising Incoming MBA Students 2025 | Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon
Arijit Mondal values adaptability, honesty, and open communication. He approaches problems methodically, enjoys high-energy environments, and balances creativity with practical execution. A team player by instinct, he brings persistence to difficult situations and keeps working towards the outcome he wants.
Clearing CAT and gaining admission to a leading MBA institution is an achievement Arijit values deeply. His grandfather, father, and mother have all held leadership roles in their respective careers, and he sees this milestone as a way of continuing that family legacy while making his parents proud.
As a Systems Engineer at Infosys Ltd., Arijit worked on the HSBC project, implementing technology solutions aligned with the bank's strategic objectives. He managed customer records for Singapore and Poland, reported progress as project requirements shifted, and coordinated with team leads and managers to meet deadlines. He also took part in skill and knowledge sessions to stay current with IT-sector trends.
Arijit brings 25 months of experience at Infosys on a global HSBC project, where he worked with international data and developed both technical and business acumen. His achievements include AIR 19 in the National Case Study Challenge, AIR 30 in Marketers Edge, and the Emerging HR Icon recognition from IHRM at Phoenix Global. He has also worked on go-to-market and monetisation projects with Amazon and Google, both backed by letters of recommendation. As Alumni Lead for the Young Leaders Programme, he mentored incoming cohorts and developed programme roadmaps. His work with Aashman Foundation on women's economic empowerment and welfare initiatives reflects his interest in community development.
Adaptability and perseverance are the qualities Arijit believes make him useful to an employer. He adjusts quickly to new situations, looks for different ways to approach a problem, and stays with difficult work when the first route does not deliver the desired outcome. That combination helps him respond to changing business problems with patience and practical thinking.
Arijit is developing structured thinking as a problem-solving skill. At MDI Gurgaon, weekly sessions with seniors expose him to case frameworks and guesstimate problems. He is learning to break a problem into smaller, logical parts before building a solution, an approach he sees as essential for navigating complex business issues.
Arijit has prepared for CAT and other MBA entrance examinations since the COVID period. In 2022, he received calls from XLRI, MDI Gurgaon, NMIMS, and the CAP IIMs, but waitlists and rejections followed. The period also included back surgery, the loss of his grandfather, and his mother's job transfer. He kept preparing, scored the 85th percentile in 2023, and reached the 96.32nd percentile in 2024. Although he missed the IIM verbal-section cut-off, MDI Gurgaon called him for an interview and ultimately offered him admission.
