I am a strong believer of “There is a purpose for everyone you meet”. Some people come into your life to teach you, some to use you and some to bring out the very best in you, and this all happened with me in a year. Just a year ago, I moved to Paonta Sahib (Yes, this is the city where IIM Sirmaur is). 65 new faces, 65 new personalities and I didn’t know any of them.
We, students of IIM Sirmaur were in the middle of our IIP at SDA Bocconi, Milan. Already amazed spending few days in Milan which is also called the fashion capital of the world, I and my friends were super excited on the day of the Ferrari factory visit. Prof. Olga Annushkina, faculty for the course International Business and Prof. Diviani Chowdary, student coordinator and all the 65 students have started our journey to Maranello. Two-hour journey seemed so long and finally we set our foot wishing it’s not a beautiful dream.
Familiarity often breeds contempt. The process of getting into a B- School begins with a test of one's aptitude and ends with an interrogation that reflects his attitude. By the time I sat for my interview with IIM Visakhapatnam, I believed I knew very well, the tricks of the trade. The interview started off on a good note. But what followed became the reason why I chose this institute.
I have worked as an iOS Developer for four years at IBM developing complex enterprise applications for clients in more than six industries. This role has enabled me to learn to respond fast, work in a team, communicate with clients, maintain deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an agile environment. If you were to ask my friends and family to describe me, they would tell you that I am a diverse, pleasant, smart and active person. I owe it to the diversity of experiences that I have had. Since my school days I have participated in various activities ranging from drama, sports, debates, social work to Science Olympiads. I also enjoy cooking and travelling.
IIM Visakhapatnam established in 2015 is able to distinguish itself from other IIMs and is able to set its footprint in less short time than its peers. Being mentored by IIM Bangalore, it got faculty of top notch and their expertise helps us in harnessing our potential. As Andhra Pradesh is a known business-friendly state and mentioned its intention to develop Vizag as fin-tech hub, it helps the institute in providing practical knowledge to students. Also it is well connected to all the Indian metros and several countries in middle-east and South-east Asia. International immersion program enables us to open our minds to new ideas. I felt the idea of us being with institute from very nascent stage helps us become more responsible and carry the brand of IIM Visakhapatnam.
Amongst the beautiful view of the sea to some sumptuous temples, Visakhapatnam is abode of diverse culture and talented minds residing in IIMV. The commendable leadership of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu adds to the glory and encourages competitiveness in the institute established in 2015.
14 July 2017. Exactly one-year back, one of the best things in my life happened to me. I had made my way into the campus of Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur. When I look back and think of what make my campus unique, I find the cap of a few hundred words to be extremely constricting, but I feel fortunate for the amazing memories that will remain with me for my lifetime.
