One of the most interesting stages in life that gives us an opportunity to explore is the ‘college phase’. Life at college is the time when the teenage years end and we all dive deep into the ocean of new beginnings and possibilities. This golden period better equips us for all the challenges we’ll face in life and creates a strong foundation of knowledge.
It was a month of June and the rains of Kolkata were in their full glory to welcome the incoming batch of IIFT MBA (IB) 2018-20.
Selecting best of the best is one of the toughest decisions in life. I had conversion calls from all new IIMs, but selection had to be more judgemental. I started drafting different parameters to validate my decision. Faculty, exposure, learning opportunities, campus support system, placements, campus life and peer learning were some parameter on which my decision had to be based on. After spending complete 15 days of research on B-school, IIM Udaipur was considered to be my first choice.
28th March 2018, the date which I will never forget. It’s the date when all my tensions and restlessness settled because I was selected for admission in XIMB. ”Finally, I made it”, I said.
MBA had always been my dream career even before I had a fair idea of what this course was about and what were its future prospects. I guess it was just the vision of being all dressed up in business formals sitting in a glass skyscraper, breaking through the glass ceiling to become a successful woman in the corporate world, that enticed me towards pursuing this course.
After undergoing a grueling preparation schedule for MBA entrance examinations along with my job with Wipro and finally converting the Prestigious Xavier School of Human Resource Management (XAHR), I heaved a sigh of relief, because this was not just any other B-school, but one of the top 5 finest Human Resource Management institutes in India. In my quest to be a leading People manager, I entered the majestic campus of Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB) on 18th June 2018 and to my right, I found a Chapel.
We were standing before a house that day, when I asked dad, ‘Is that our home?’ and he said, ‘Not yet!’ I was really bewildered at his answer. My family shifted to that house the next day…
