ABG - Adapting To Changing Environments Is The Key To Success - Suyash Sinha, MDI Gurgaon

ABG - Adapting To Changing Environments Is The Key To Success - Suyash Sinha, MDI Gurgaon

“Change is the only constant.” We all are familiar with this quote. Adapting to changing environments is an essential skill and it is something which I have experienced in my life since childhood. It all happened as my father was transferred after every few years to various cities across Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, I spent my childhood and schooling across multiple tier-2 cities in Uttar Pradesh. It came with its own challenges. Every city had a different culture, different people and for me, different schools with different students. Also, we usually had to shift around July when the school sessions had already started for some time, making adjusting all the more difficult.

ABG - A Hero In Disguise! - Diksha Miglani, MDI Gurgaon

A few things are inherently attached to our lives so deeply that we fail to observe their magnificence even as we use, feel and see them every day. These few things stay for long with us, making our lives better in the background. ABG is the same for us. When I read the topic, how big is ABG in our lives, the entire coverage of its importance in our entire lives slowly starts forming massive shape in my head.

The Spontaneous Mentor

The Spontaneous Mentor

Speaking about my mentor Mr Purushottam Rao. He is the Finance Aero Leader for Honeywell Technology Solutions. A jolly ,witty guy with a powerhouse of knowledge in the field of aviation and finance. He was my mentor during my 2 months internship at Honeywell. One thing unique about my mentor was that he kept smiling even in grave situations and when one day i asked him about this he said it gives him confidence. He was the one who used to come first to the office and would be the last one to leave. He always used to entertain everyone with his one liners that were apt for the moment and whenever we used to get stuck at some point he would come up with a solution that helped us come out from that particular problem. As an intern it is observed that the technical and IT support take the requests raised by the interns lightly but Mr. Rao was very much concerned with delays caused due to such things so he would ensure that any support that we required reached us on time. He was also the driving force in setting up meetings with the head of different departments so that side by side we could learn new things about the organisation its structure and workings .One instance that i remember is we were provided with a huge database to analyse we were not sure of how to handle that huge amount of data. he provided us with the knowledge of the tools that we should in order to analyse the data such as Tableau. He was also well versed with engineering activities that happened within the organization. Sometimes during the presentation if we got stuck at one point during questioning from other supervisors he would use to clarify the facts and at the same time would collect all the suggestions that we received and then he used to provide us a collective feedback at the end. Apart from the work he used to ask us about our backgrounds and the things that we used to do in our college. He has been working at Honeywell for past 15 years. He has a chartered accountant and joined Honeywell as a finance manager. Then after 5 years  he was promoted to FP&A Manager position and he is the finance leader for past 5 years. The finance department of the Honeywell technology Solutions takes care of the Financing of the projects that are undertaken by the different engineering department as well as looks after the costing and various aspects such as the manpower requirements by different departments. Working under Mr. Rao made us realise that in today's world when people keep look forward to change the jobs in pursuit of incremental changes to salary there are still people who love their work and do it passionately and stick to a particular organization. Mr. Rao is a man of wisdom who prefers simplicity in his approach. Whenever we prepared a report or a presentation he always told us that prepare a report so that even a layman can understand it by looking at the contents, charts. In today's world mentors like MR. Rao are required who nurture juniors and enhance the talent of freshers like me and provide them with the right guidance so that they are not lost in the pursuit of their dreams.
