With 31 % of FMCG value sales and high growth potential, Rural market is where everyone wants to go to, but perhaps, not as a summer intern. Not all summer internships are well planned and not all of the rest go as per the plan. My summer internship at Emami was one such experience, which was a balance of invaluable learning about the rural marketing and stark practicalities of field work.
The use of case studies is one of the most common methods of understanding managerial skills. The cases usually begin with the description of the CEO looking outside the window or taking a coffee sip. Business students read the case, try to comprehend what the manager did right or wrong (more often the latter), figure out the underlying problems, diagnose a proposed state, list down the suggested solutions and frame an action plan.
The first thing that hits you in a b-school is summer placements. It comes so fast that you hardly get time to understand what MBA is all about. It turn into a mad rush with everyone running after their elusive dreams. The scenes are reminiscent of any Bollywood masala movie with action, drama, emotions, conspiracy, laughter, tears and triumph. Here are my suggestions to bag a good summer internship but the most important thing to remember is that it is just an internship and not the end of life.
