CSR is increasingly gaining importance in the corporate world. To inculcate the habit of community service, SCMHRD, a premier b-school, under Symbiosis International (Deemed University), is gearing up for its annual TE.A.CH drive. TE.A.CH stands for Teach A Child.
The Social, Entrepreneurship and Consulting Cell (SECC), a student-run body at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune, through their initiative, Prerna, aims at spreading knowledge and smiles among people.
There is a distinct buzz in the corridors of the S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. Despite innumerable hours of classes, excitement envelopes us as we prepare for our flagship sports festival- SPRINT. SPRINT is India’s largest b-school sports fest where teams from b-schools all across India will battle it out in different sports events.
The Mumbai attacks of 26/11 awakened an entire nation to become more responsive to terrorism and taught us that, freedom, never comes easy. The students of SIBM Bengaluru, every year, commemorate the sacrifice of the bravehearts who laid down their lives on that dreary night, lest we forget. This year too, Jzaa - the Dramatics Club of SIBM Bengaluru, in association with the Social Responsibility Committee performed ‘Nukkad Natak’ on the 26th of November at the Orion Mall in Bengaluru, as a tribute to those valiant individuals who stood firm against the terror and flagged the spirit of patriotism and humanity in the troubled times of the Mumbai attacks. The theme for this year’s Street Play was Aakrosh, which encapsulated the agitation of the people against the social injustices and orthodox beliefs that prevail in the country.
About 5 years back top business schools in India suddenly woke up to the fact that the gender diversity ratio in their graduating batches was quite poor. It was extremely rare to find more than 25% women in most of the top IIMs. However, things have taken a turn for the better and the number of women graduating not just from IIMs but schools across the board now is in thousands. While women representation in C-Suite and pay disparity at the top levels are issues which will still take many more years to be solved, we can celebrate the increase in number of women managers at the entry level in India. We should be hopeful and the IIMs and other top schools have done their bit.
For MBA students, 2nd October is not just a national holiday, it is a day of snoozing alarms. However, this time, everyone made an exception. This year, students of 1st and 2nd year got out of their beds to help participate in the Swachh Bharat campaign.
