The 3rd edition of Life Dart 5K Run was conducted successfully by the Rotaract Club of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Bengaluru in association with Rotary Indiranagar (District 3190) in Electronic City on Sunday, the 29th of January, 2017.
As the country moves towards a cashless economy after demonetisation, the students of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune are organising a project titled “Promote cashless transaction through various digital payment modes in villages located near Symbiosis International University” in an endeavour to assist the Government and encourage a cashless economy.
The TAPMI Batch of 96 raised Rs. 23 lakhs from their batch mates and more than Rs. 10 lakhs from corporates like International Paper (India) Ltd. and CIPLA Ltd. and another Rs. 5 lakhs from implementation partners to build 3 classrooms, an auditorium, toilets and a water tank in the Government Composite High School, Rajeeva Nagara, Manipal.
When I was a child, my teacher asked, “Who’s your favourite hero?”. “Shaktiman!”, I blurted out along with many of my classmates, imagining myself as the superhero in the red suit. As I grew up, my preferences evolved with the speed of light, sometimes it was the “Caped crusader” while some other time it was the “Man of Steel”.
The pressure to turn stories into likes, to know which time of the day will fetch maximum page views raises one very important question- Do likes, comments and views even signify that people care about a story or issue? I believe in most cases the answer is No.
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru is all set to commemorate the sacrifice of those brave souls who fought back the terrorists on the grim night of 26/11.
With the government demonetizing 500 and 1000 rupee notes, it has become imperative for everyone to spread this awareness in the remotest area of the country so that all the villagers can get a full value of their hard earned money. And to further this initiative, the Finance club and Samarpan – the social responsibility club of IIM Ranchi planned to visit a remote village in Dimra tehsil of Ranchi along with a faculty member, Prof. Gaurav Marathe and a localite Mr. Mangesh Jha.
IIM Rohtak organized the sixth edition of Run for the Girl Child Mini-Marathon as part of its endeavor to raise awareness about the abysmal sex ratio of the country and the prevalent gender inequality. Former renowned wrestler and Dronacharya Awardee, Mr. Mahavir Singh Phogat, and his daughter Ms. Geeta Phogat, who won the first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling in the 2010 Commonwealth Games for India, graced the event with their eminent presence. The relentless determination and consequent success of the family has been the inspiration behind the upcoming biopic ‘Dangal’, starring Aamir Khan. The event also witnessed the presence of Kavita, 2014 Asian Games gold medalist in Kabaddi.
