The potential of this huge brigade can be realized if every segment contributes in his/her capacity to the fullest. Let’s see how by making simple changes in the way we think and work, this much needed change can be brought in, and for India.
The Social Responsibility Committee of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bengaluru organized Utthaan 2016 - Little feet…Big Strides on Sunday, the 28th of August. The event was centred on the theme ‘Blue Paradise’ which intended to showcase the beauty and serenity of the underwater world to the underprivileged children from various NGOs of Bengaluru.
On 1st August 2016, the Symbiosis Bengaluru Campus came together to celebrate the 81st birthday of Dr. S.B. Mujumdar – Founder of Symbiosis International University. On this auspicious occasion, the Social Responsibility Committee of SIBM Bengaluru and Soul Sparsh, the Official CSR club of SSMC Bengaluru organized a Blood Donation Camp in association with Blossom Hospital and Symbiosis Centre for Health Care (SCHC).
The Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) welcomed Ms. Prachi Garg to conduct a lecture on the topic of the “Challenges women entrepreneurs face and how to cope up with them”. Ms. Garg is the founder of www.ghoomophiro.com, a start-up that helps in curating corporate tours. She has also delivered workshops on entrepreneurship. Her start-up has been covered extensively in the media. The lecture was organized by the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of IIM T.
The major difference between the high-income and low-income economies lies in the extent to which the country is industrialized. The economies have transitioned from low income to high income by undergoing industrialization, reducing their dependence on agriculture and natural resources and thereby showcasing a globally attractive market for investments. And by using the term ‘industrialization’, it means the advancing manufacturing of goods and services and making sure that it contributes to the highest percentage of the GDP.
As a part of their ‘Make-a-Difference’ project, aimed at finding solutions for social issues in Trichy and parts of Tamil Nadu, a six member team from Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli in collaboration with Holy Cross Service Society, a NGO operating in Trichy city, took up the issue of students dropping out from high schools and to come up with a feasible solution to reduce this number. Speaking about their project, the students said, “The dropout rates in schools at Tamil Nadu has reached alarming heights during the last decade or so. The drop rate between classes 1 to 10 is more than 30% and the reasons for this are plenty. We wanted to understand the factors which force students to quit school”

And that is the greatest gift to the learner; the ability to know what you don’t know. And this result is something which comes to you in your absolutely open state of mind.

Make A Difference Foundation (MADF), the social initiative wing at IMT, in association with the Rotary Club, organised ‘Sanjeevani’ - a blood donation drive at the IMT Ghaziabad campus. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the esteemed director of IMT, Dr Atish Chattopadhyay, Dean Ravikesh Srivastava and the Head of the Women’s wing of Rotary Club – The Inner Wheel, Mrs Shivani Jain. Dr Atish Chattopadhyay emphasised on the importance of ‘consumption and contribution’ and how important it is for each individual to maintain a balance between the two. He further elaborated on blood being the binding force of the human society and thus the need to donate blood being paramount.
