How ABG touches millions of lives
Aditya Birla Group is a multinational company, headquartered in Mumbai, India. It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The group has interests in viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbonblack, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. There is no denying the fact that one cannot stay untouched by the products and services offered by Aditya Birla Group. The Group's non-ferrous metals' business is under Hindalco Industries. Who hasn’t used Freshwrapp? It is one of the childhood memories of my tiffin in school. The Group's cement business was earlier under Grasim Industries and UltraTech Cement. The two entities have now been merged into UltraTech Cement to form India's largest cement company. I need not tell the readers the importance of this cpmpany. The Aditya Birla Group is the world's largest producer of Viscose staple fibre. It operates from India, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and China. It owns the Birla Cellulose brand. Apart from viscose staple fibre, the group also owns acrylic fibre business in Thailand, viscose filament yarn businesses and spinning mills in India and South East Asia. The group has pulp and plantation interests in Canada and Laos. Aditya Birla Group sells in-house and other branded apparel via brick-and-mortar and online stores. The group's firm Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd sells in-house brands such as Louis Phillippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and People via their individual brand stores and through other multi brand outlets. It operates a multi brand fashion retail chain Pantaloons which it acquired from Future Group. My life is incomplete without clothes from all of these brands.

(as on 31st March, 2018), it is India's first billion-dollar pure-play fashion powerhouse with an elegant bouquet of leading fashion brands and retail formats. Spanning 34 countries, Aditya Birla Group is anchored by a strong force of over 120,000 employees, belonging to 42 nationalities.

Aditya Birla Group is US $44.3 billion Corporation and having devoted force of over 1.2 lakh employees spread across 42 nationalities. Since its inception in 1857, it has grown to become the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate with operations in thirty-four countries across five continents. It has a plethora of businesses under it notably Grasim, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Aditya Birla Chemicals, Aditya Birla Insulators, Essel Mining, Birla Carbon, amongst many others. The Aditya Birla Group is the world's largest producer of Viscose staple fibre. I cannot count the number of times, I have visited ABG’s Planet fashion stores which has become my one-stop shopping solution. The L&T Cement Company was bought by Aditya Birla group in 2004, and rechristened it as UltraTech cement. The ABG group had made a marketing campaign called “The engineers’ choice” for the Ultra Tech cement. The advertisement changed my perspective. Truck was not the largest thing a man could build, and mechanic was not the best career a person can pursue, Engineering was!

I still vividly remember the conversation I had with my school principal as a 6-year-old about how we make a building. I saw so many buildings come up in the city and was curious as to how could they stand erect and not fall. My principle replied with the name, “Ultratech Cement”. That was my 1st introduction to Aditya Birla Group. At that age, I couldn’t comprehend what cement does, but I saw Ultratech cement as the reason for all the buildings that I saw on my way from school to home. Later when we were building our own home, my father said he only trusted Ultratech cement for it.
