My Little moment of Happiness!
It was a hectic day at office. After surviving long hours of Traffic jam, I was finally able to reach my home in the wee hours of the day. Lots of work at office and other activities sapped my energy to the core. In an enervated condition, I finally stopped at a Retail store that read More megastore. I always admired how a 2 min Bike ride to the store fulfilled all my nutrition, essential needs. I quickly went into the bag counter, dropped my belongings and moved onto the Food and grocery section. It was very difficult to pick from the numerous options available and considering the steep discounts. After packing the necessary items, I went on to the Billing counter, Where I was greeted with a pleasant smile from the lady and was asked about my day. I took my belongings from the baggage counter and stepped out of the store. In the parking lot, I saw an old lady in tattered clothes and miserable condition, waiting for help and alms. I pitied her for deplorable condition and immediately took out some food and offered to the woman. This was the first memorable tryst with social awareness in my life. I could emotionally connect to the underprivileged people around me and help with resources at my disposal. This event planted a seed of social sensitization and awareness in me. Later on, weekends, I could gather whatever food I could from my flat and left overs through peer group, thereby encouraging them to donate food and went straight to the places where I could find more of them. Though there was not a long term solution at hand, It gave me immense amount of satisfaction how an act of social giving was planted in me outside the premises of Aditya Birla group.
