Like all the CAT aspirants, I was also the one dreaming to be a part of a B-school coveted by all. My interview for the new IIMs was scheduled in Mumbai. I worked in Pune at that time, so I reached Mumbai a day before my dreaded interview and spent the night at my sister's house. The location of the interview was at Dadar (possibly the least populated locality of Mumbai) and my plan of commute was to catch a local from Navi Mumbai to Dadar. For those of you who've never been to Mumbai, I was up for one roller coaster ride. Back at my sister's place, I spent the night imagining the scenarios of my upcoming interview.
Finally the morning came, I was all ready (atleast I thought I was). I took my formal shirt, plugged the iron in, put it on my shirt, and guess what, a huge iron-shaped hole on the back of my shirt. I just stood there, staring at my burnt shirt with sound of thunder playing in the background as it's some Ekta Kapoor show. What was I to do? My sister being the sweetest brought out all her shirts, nothing worked. After my sister's continuous pleas, I wore the burnt shirt, and put my Van Huesen blazer on. In the hopes that I would forget about that breezy hole on my back, I took the local and went on to face my interview. But my loyal crease-free blazer didn't betray me, it kept me presentable even at the time of my peril.
The interview was CAP round, and that's how I got into IIM Udaipur. Thankyou my blazer, I'll take you to my next interview too (hopefully, without a burnt shirt inside).
