IIM Ahmedabad Final Placements 2026: The Complete Breakdown

IIM Ahmedabad has wrapped up final placements for the PGP Class of 2026, and the audited numbers are out — verified by B2K Analytics (formerly Brickworks Analytics) against the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) Revision 2.2. Here's what the data actually says, sector by sector, function by function, rupee by rupee.

The headline numbers

Metric Number
Total students eligible for placement 402
Students who sought placement through the institute 392
Students who opted out of the process 10
Total offers accepted 392
Firms that participated 182
Distinct roles offered 267
Dream applications recorded 151
New recruiters onboarded 50+

Of the 10 students who didn't go through the placement process, 3 chose entrepreneurship, 1 returned to a family business, and 6 secured roles outside the campus process. (Note: the report's overview section mentions "2 students" opting out for entrepreneurship under the IIMAvericks Fellowship, but the audited classification table puts this at 3 — since B2K's audit explicitly covers only the remuneration/function/location data and not the overview narrative, the table figure of 3 is the more reliable one.)

Sector-wise offers: consulting still dominates

Sector Domestic International Total
Consulting 155 0 155
BFSI 81 1 82
Conglomerate 31 3 34
Information Technology (IT) 33 1 34
Consumer Services 15 0 15
Pharmaceutical/Healthcare 13 0 13
Engineering/Technology 14 0 14
Consumer Goods (FMCG) 12 0 12
Retail 4 1 5
Manufacturing 4 0 4
Logistics 3 0 3
Telecommunication 3 0 3

Environment & Energy 3 0 3
Engineering/Industrial 3 0 3
Consumer Durables 2 0 2
Real Estate 2 0 2
Social Enterprises & NGOs 2 0 2
Automotive 1 0 1
IT Consulting 1 0 1
Others (Fintech) 1 0 1
Total 386 6 392

Consulting alone accounted for nearly 40% of the entire batch's offers — no surprise given the roster of firms on campus (BCG, McKinsey, Bain, Kearney, Deloitte Consulting, Accenture Strategy, EY Parthenon, Monitor Deloitte, and more). BFSI came in a distant second, driven heavily by investment banking, PE/VC, and asset management names like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Blackstone, and Avendus Capital.

Function-wise offers

Function Domestic International Total
Consulting 154 0 154
General Management 66 1 67
Finance 65 1 66
Business Development 26 1 27
Sales/Marketing 21 0 21
Strategy 17 0 17
Systems/IT 14 0 14
Product/Category Management 11 0 11
Operations 8 0 8
Research & Advisory 2 3 5
Supply Chain Management 2 0 2
Total 386 6 392

Worth flagging: sector-wise consulting shows 155 offers while function-wise consulting shows 154. This isn't an error — sector and function are two independent classification axes (a firm's core business sector doesn't always match the function of the specific role offered), and both columns independently sum correctly to 392, so the numbers hold up.

The report also calls out year-on-year function growth: Business Development offers jumped 440%, General Management rose ~19%, and Systems/IT climbed 75% compared to last year.

Where the offers went

International placements stayed a small slice of the pie — just 6 offers in total.

International location Offers
Dubai 4
Hong Kong 1
Japan 1
Total 6

All 386 domestic offers were clubbed under "Pan India" — the report notes this was done on the institute's advice because location details weren't verifiable for every offer letter, either due to missing information or work locations being finalised only post-joining.

The money: domestic salary data (INR)

Salary head Min Max Mean Median
Fixed Yearly Cash Component ₹12,00,000 ₹81,60,000 ₹28,82,958 ₹28,81,369
One-time Cash Component ₹50,000 ₹12,75,000 ₹3,97,678 ₹3,00,000
Total Guaranteed Cash Component ₹12,00,000 ₹81,60,000 ₹31,83,792 ₹32,50,000
Maximum Earning Potential (MEP) ₹12,00,000 ₹81,60,000 ₹36,98,764 ₹37,00,000

In plain terms: the median IIMA grad this year locked in a guaranteed package of ₹32.5 lakh, with maximum earning potential (which folds in variable pay, PF, and other short-term perks — but excludes ESOPs and retention bonuses vesting after year one) touching a median of ₹37 lakh.

International salary data (USD)

Salary head Min Max Mean Median
Fixed Yearly Cash Component $40,016 $97,500 $75,299 $77,760
One-time Cash Component $1,220 $10,140 $5,680 $5,680
Total Guaranteed Cash Component $41,236 $1,07,640 $77,193 $77,760
Maximum Earning Potential $49,380 $2,43,000 $1,07,170 $81,000

Only 6 data points here, so treat the spread with caution — one high outlier (the $2,43,000 MEP figure, likely from the IT sector international offer) pulls the mean well above the median.

Combined salary picture (all offers, converted to INR)

Salary head Min Max Mean Median Data points
Fixed Yearly Cash Component ₹12,00,000 ₹90,52,500 ₹29,47,855 ₹29,06,523 392
One-time Cash Component ₹50,000 ₹12,75,000 ₹3,98,570 ₹3,00,000 294
Total Guaranteed Cash Component ₹12,00,000 ₹99,93,960 ₹32,46,782 ₹32,50,000 392
Maximum Earning Potential ₹12,00,000 ₹2,31,03,000 ₹37,97,495 ₹37,00,000 392

The top MEP figure across the entire batch — ₹2.31 crore — comes from converting the highest international USD offer at the June 30, 2026 exchange rate.

Sector-wise pay: who's paying the most

Looking at Maximum Earning Potential by sector (domestic, INR):

Sector Min Max Mean Median
BFSI ₹22,00,000 ₹81,60,000 ₹42,71,023 ₹40,00,000
Consulting ₹16,00,000 ₹45,86,000 ₹38,42,446 ₹39,04,000
Information Technology ₹20,09,369 ₹53,18,852 ₹37,09,196 ₹40,00,000
Consumer Services ₹29,29,900 ₹51,97,538 ₹35,57,204 ₹30,00,000
Others (Fintech) ₹34,50,000 ₹34,50,000 ₹34,50,000 ₹34,50,000
Engineering/Technology ₹25,00,000 ₹42,00,002 ₹36,70,001 ₹37,50,000

BFSI edges out Consulting on average MEP, largely because of its investment banking and PE tail — the sector's max figure of ₹81.6 lakh sets the ceiling for the entire domestic batch.

The recruiter leaderboard

Final placements (including PPOs):

Recruiter Offers
Accenture Strategy 36
Boston Consulting Group 33
FinIQ Consulting 24
McKinsey & Company 21

Among investment banks specifically, Goldman Sachs led with 6 offers (including PPOs), followed by Citibank with 4.

In the General Management domain, Essar Group made the most offers at 8, followed by Amazon at 6.

The laterals process

About 58% of the batch was eligible for lateral placements — a separate track for candidates with prior work experience, run before the final placement process. 18 firms participated across Technology, Consulting, BFSI, and Analytics.

Recruiter Lateral offers
FinIQ Consulting 15

Pre-placement offers (PPOs)

Parameter Number
Total PPOs awarded 203
— via internships 194
— via other routes 9
Total PPOs accepted 135

Roughly 52% of all PPOs awarded were accepted — a reminder that a PPO in hand doesn't always mean a PPO taken, with many students choosing to test the final placement process instead.

Methodology notes worth knowing

A few audit caveats that shape how these numbers should be read:

  • Where a salary break-up wasn't available, the entire amount was counted only under Maximum Earning Potential.
  • ESOPs were included in MEP calculations assuming 25% vests in year one (in the absence of a stated vesting schedule); anything vesting after 12 months — ESOPs, retention bonuses, other long-term benefits — is excluded from MEP.
  • Gratuity was included in MEP despite being payable only after 5 years, since it wasn't separately available for all candidates.
  • All USD-to-INR conversions use closing exchange rates as of June 30, 2026.
  • B2K Analytics validated the data against communication received by IIMA from recruiters — it did not independently verify information directly with recruiting companies.
  • The audit report states the placement report has zero deviations from IPRS Revision 2.2.

The bottom line

IIM Ahmedabad's Class of 2026 closed out placements with 392 offers across 182 firms and 267 roles, a median guaranteed package of ₹32.5 lakh, and consulting once again the single largest sector by volume. The 440% jump in Business Development offers and 75% rise in Systems/IT are the standout trend lines for anyone tracking where B-school hiring is headed next year.
