Robert Kiyosaki once said "The most successful people in the world look for and build networks. Everyone else looks for work". Networking today, cannot be underestimated, and especially so for an MBA graduate. The baby steps in this journey begin with the alumni.
The VGSoM Alumni Committee is responsible for creating, nurturing and maintaining a close relationship with the Alumni of the college. The committee takes up the responsibility of engaging the graduates of this institution since its inception. It publishes monthly newsletters called VGSoM Diaries and also a video series named Kaleidoscope, to communicate the happenings within the college during the month, to the alumni and faculty. These act as the means to keep the connection between the alumni and the alma mater alive and burning. The annual magazine “In-Sync” is published annually to highlight the activities that occurred throughout the year and consists of alumni achievements and articles authored by the alumni and the current batch students. This goes a long way to show how proud VGSoM feels of the achievements of its collegians.
The committee aims at maintaining a cordial relationship with the alumni by engaging them through social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn. The alumni, in turn, contribute to their alma mater by providing placement opportunities, live projects, assistance in fund-raising etc.
The Alumni Committee takes pride in organising a Mentorship Program every year, which serves as a platform to connect every junior batch student with an alumnus/alumna, based on the student's field of interest and the alumnus' line of work. By interacting with their mentors, students get an insight into the various business functions and operations carried out in the industry. The college is also privileged to have a Guest Lecture series called “Pratyaksh”, in which the prominent alumni along with other eminent personalities from diverse walks of life come and deliver lectures on varied topics.
The committee organises an annual Alumni meet called “Connect” in all the major cities. In 2017, "Connect" was conducted in 6 chapters in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These are conducted with the aim of bringing together the alumni for one day in a year where they get to relive their College memories.
With VGSoM completing its 25 years in 2018, the committee is taking a number of initiatives in bringing together the alumni for the grand silver jubilee celebrations. Through its efforts, the Alumni Committee thus works towards its ultimate motive of connecting the entire alumni base of VGSoM and embracing it as part of the VGSoM fraternity.
