I still remember the moment when I was told that I had received the opportunity to intern with Intel for the summers. My joy knew no bounds. I was looking forward to a rich learning experience during summers with Intel.
People associate Intel with Technology and the employees with technology-based roles. On the contrary, I was a Sales intern with the Internet of Things Group at Intel. The Sales domain was something I always had been inclined to work in and the Internet of Things was another technology-based aspect I was very comfortable with. So, I was very curious to see what this combination would be like.
The first thing anyone would notice about Intel is the wonderful work culture. Starting from my Day 1 at Intel, I never felt hesitant to reach out to anyone for any help that I might need for my project. In the Harry Potter series, Professor Dumbledore had said, “Help would always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.” I have my own version of it - “Help would always be given at Intel to those who ask for it.”
In addition to that, I was encouraged to try new things and I even got the opportunity to host a summit on behalf of Intel. The once-nervous girl who had a stage-fright was now addressing an entire room full of Managers and CEOs with confidence – and I owe it to Intel for having trusted me with the same.
Intel not only taught me how to use what I already know, but it also helped me learn and venture out of comfort zone to know more. The culture, the people, the experience and those two months of the internship were more than the rich learning experience I had been looking for. Rarely does one ever get to work with people who encourage you throughout – and I consider myself lucky to have got an opportunity to work with such people during my summer internship at Intel.
