If you ask me life is all about a person's constant pursuit of finding the meaning for her life. Sometimes, one casually stumbles upon it or sometimes it takes her an entire lifetime of toil. I never knew what was my definitive purpose until the day I discovered it.
It all started for me in the Classroom. I enrolled in a coaching class and joined the race, preparing for competitive exams, CAT, IIFT, GMAT, with a dream as soothing as the morning dew to land myself into a good MBA college. My goal was always to become an influential leader and work for the betterment of the world and make my parents proud. I had finally found myself a ladder to realize this dream. This was a pious goal which gave my life a lot of meaning.
I had set my eyes fully on cracking CAT and devoted myself with all the zeal and vigour. My typical day started with me waking up at 6 in the morning, getting to the Coaching classes, then run back to office then get back to my coaching to attend the remaining set of classes. My day ended with me self studying and going to bed at around 2 in the night. The schedule was grinding but the journey was pleasurable. Part of what made my journey pleasurable was my sister with whom I shared a flat. The hectic day’s schedule also brought along my need to get proper nutrition. Since I was always on the move and never really had time on my hands it was tough to get fresh and hygiennic food. My sister being the wise and the lovely sibling she is started getting up earlier than me and prepared me healthy and delicious meals. She would then diligently pack all my meals in Freshwrapp foils which would keep my food fresh, hot and intact for much longer hours and satiating at the same time. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into few months and I continued preparing hard. The hard work finally paid off when I finally cleared my IIFT exam. I still remember how it brought a tear and a smile on my sister's face when she discovered my 'Thank You' note wrapped meticulously in a Freshwrapp foil.
Flashback as a kid I developed a peculiar habit of associating good omens with an event. This later grew into a unforced practice of relating my successes with me wearing a particular attire. I had my select set of dresses which I considered lucky. Though I don't deny that working hard to achieve your goals pips everything else but who doesn't want a little luck to go there way.
After clearing IIFT exam, the next round was group discussions and personal interviews. It was mandatory to wear complete formals. 12th February 2019 was the D-Day for Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi, my dream college. I of-course had to be prepared perfectly, be it my hard work or my superstition about a lucky dress.
However, me being someone who rarely dons formals, I was all puzzled on where to get myself a set of formals. After a lot of search, me and my friend Anirudh landed to Van Heusen store, Pune. We were awestruck by the amazing collection it had. I just knew I will find my lucky dress here at Van Heusen. I got one and wore that formal suit on the D-Day. The sun shined through the window, brightening up the room.
My eyes jumped from calendar to clock to web searching for when the result will be declared. And the day came, my heart beating really fast. I opened the result and guess what it did turned out to be lucky! I got through the interview stage with flying colors.
I was in Udaipur, my home town, looking for stores to buy formal dresses to wear in college. I realized there are almost no stores which keep formals for females. After tiring myself for days, Allen Solly came to my rescue. The only store in Udaipur where a girl can find options in formal suits with better fit and preferred colors. I shopped all the essentials from there and got prepared for the new phase of life. My journey to IIFT, Delhi, has started and I am so excited about all the opportunities that are out there waiting for me to grab them. I am finally at a stage in life where I feel empowered to create so much more value and meaning in my life.
