Vaishali Agarwal: Best 50 | India's Most Promising Incoming MBA Students 2025 | IIM Shillong

Vaishali Agarwal is an incoming MBA student at IIM Shillong with a Life Sciences background. Her experience spans laboratory research, mentoring underprivileged students through Avanti Fellows, and leading cultural events with limited resources. An accomplished dancer who has performed on national platforms, she brings both discipline and creativity to her interest in marketing.

One of Vaishali's proudest achievements was leading the organising team for her college's annual cultural fest with minimal resources. Faced with budget and logistical constraints, she planned sponsorship drives, coordinated diverse committees, and motivated volunteers. The result was a record turnout and positive feedback from participants and faculty. The experience taught her to build trust within teams and deliver under pressure.

Vaishali's journey brings together science, art, and leadership. Life Sciences gave her analytical depth; performing arts developed creativity and stage presence; and leading cultural fests and mentoring students strengthened her people-first leadership. She adapts across settings, from organising large-scale events with limited resources to interpreting consumer behaviour in live projects.

Vaishali brings analytical rigour, consumer-centred thinking, and collaborative leadership. Her research background trained her to break down complex problems systematically. Leading large-scale events strengthened her planning, negotiation, and delivery under pressure, while mentoring through Avanti Fellows developed her communication and empathy.

Vaishali is sharpening her data-driven decision-making skills. She naturally leans towards intuition and people-centred thinking, but recognises that management decisions also need evidence and measurable impact. She is learning to combine empathy with analytical rigour.

Vaishali has sought growth beyond defined roles, whether by turning a resource-strapped college fest into a record success or mentoring students towards milestones they once thought impossible. Her work as a dancer has also taught her discipline, resilience, and storytelling, all of which she applies to management.
