The Ascent: From Engineering to HR Strategy

Vinay’s journey into Human Resources was not a default but a distinct choice. His interest was sparked during his engineering studies while volunteering at an AP Job Mela, where he found himself drawn to the processes of candidate coordination and recruitment. This inspired him to take an HR internship over an engineering placement. After graduation, he solidified his choice by working for a year as a recruiter, gaining practical experience in sourcing, screening, and hiring across various roles.

This practical foundation led him to TISS to deepen his domain knowledge. His skills were quickly recognized, earning him a coveted summer internship with the Aditya Birla Group. As part of the Group Internship Program, he worked with the Talent Staffing team on a critical project: Catalyzing the Employer Value Proposition (EVP) of the conglomerate, applying his classroom learnings and field experience on a massive scale.

The Inner Core: Resilience and Selfless Action

What Vinay is most proud of is an achievement that speaks volumes about his character. During his final year of engineering, he challenged himself to overcome a personal hurdle. Despite having a stammering problem, he took on the responsibility of organizing a stage drama at Andhra University theatres. He coordinated with the cast, managed rehearsals, and practiced communicating clearly with everyone involved, overcoming his hesitation to speak in front of groups. The event was a success, but for Vinay, the true victory was conquering a personal challenge, a quality he deems essential for a career in HR.

This empathetic drive is also seen in his Karma Yoga project at the Sukhshanti Shelter Home. Working with women in distress, he organized sessions on personal hygiene and mental well-being, designed banners to create a sense of dignity, and motivated staff and residents to participate. He did this without any formal authority, driven by a need to create meaningful change and provide compassionate support.

The Employable Edge in an AI-Augmented World

In today’s AI-augmented business world, Vinay’s most employable trait is his aptitude for quickly learning and applying new technologies. He is not intimidated by new tools; he embraces them. During his fieldwork at BP Castrol, he demonstrated this by mastering the Vibe Coding tool in under four days. He used it to design and build a lightweight app, creating an efficient solution for real-time field operations and proving his rapid adaptability.

This curiosity extends beyond his formal projects. He is currently learning video editing with DaVinci Resolve, a skill he has already applied to his fieldwork reports to make them more engaging and impactful. Ganduboyina Vinay is a modern HR professional who brings a unique blend: the process-oriented mind of an engineer, the practical experience of a recruiter, and the deep empathy of a TISS graduate. Managers can count on him to learn any tool, connect with any employee, and face any challenge with persistence and a clear, steady voice.
