Vishesh Raina: Best 50 | India's Most Promising Incoming MBA Students 2025 | SP Jain Institute of Management & Research
Vishesh Raina is an MBA candidate at SPJIMR with interests in operations management, quality enablement, and business strategy. He has participated in business case competitions, explored AI and machine-learning internships and certifications, and developed experience in operations, maintenance, and supply-chain management. He has also held college leadership roles, managed events, and volunteered with NGOs. Vishesh values teamwork, self-awareness, and evidence-based thinking alongside the human side of leadership.
One achievement Vishesh is especially proud of is leading his team to a national win in the Perfetti Van Melle Confy 3.0 business case competition. He guided the team through primary and secondary research across more than 45 websites, structured the solution, and sought input from faculty and seniors. Their recommendations secured the national title and earned him an internship before summer placements began.
As an Instrumentation Engineer at GAIL, Vishesh managed the operation and maintenance of control, automation, and instrumentation systems for gas processing and transmission. He maintained the reliability of DCS, PLCs, and safety interlocks through calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. His work included digital-upgrade projects, shutdown-system improvements, audit streamlining, diagnostics, and energy metering.
Vishesh brings strategic agility, people-centred leadership, and an interest in new technology. He adapts his approach when conditions change while keeping long-term goals in view. He also focuses on emotional intelligence, building relationships across backgrounds, resolving conflict thoughtfully, and encouraging collaboration. His interest in data analytics and AI supports his ability to turn information into business decisions, while his extracurricular work continues to broaden his perspective.
Vishesh brings technical and business skills alongside strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving with both data and creativity. He adapts quickly to new technology and change, while placing importance on ethical conduct, honest relationships, and motivating others under pressure.
Vishesh is strengthening his Excel and AI-tool skills. He sees them as increasingly useful for MBA assignments and group projects, whether he is analysing data for a marketing plan, building financial models, or creating clear charts for a presentation.
Vishesh sees Vedic astrology, empathy, and NGO leadership as complementary strengths. Astrology informs how he reflects on team dynamics, while empathy guides active listening and compassionate interactions. Leading NGO projects has developed his ability to inspire volunteers, manage limited resources, and stay committed to a cause. He wants to bring those strengths to inclusive, mission-driven workplaces.
