My journey of MBA started with NMIMS, Bangalore. The college during the first year gave me a lot of opportunities to develop my financial skills being an engineer it was all new. It was the process of learning throughout the year which helped me clearing my interview for the Summer Internship. I interned with i2i Funding which is one of the forerunners in Peer to Peer Funding companies in India. This company gave me a good chance to understand the Peer to Peer Funding status and the potential growth of it in India. It was altogether a new industry which RBI passed regulations in the year of 2017.
Coming to the preparations, start with preparing basic topics, do not complicate the preparation. Understanding key concepts play a major role than memorizing the formula. For the interviews, you will be questioned on why is it important rather than what is the formula. If you are finance majors I would suggest you start from Financial Accounting which forms the basis then move to Cost and Corporate Accounting. As they are looking for MBA interns the companies would look for your potential capability and understanding of basic corporate finance topics. Also, every interview is based on the company's profile hence make sure read about the industry, the prominent players, key issues faced by the industry.
Let's come down the interview for an internship at i2i Funding. The major questions asked were from the industry perspective. The company wanted candidates who prepared for the interviews about i2i. Other questions like about the RBI regulations also the location was discussed during the interview. It was a telephonic interview as the company was located in Noida. Be confident while attending the interview, keep calm, understand the question before answering as telephonic interviews have a lot of noise disturbances. In case if you don't understand the question politely ask them for the same. Do not ever assume the question and answer.
About the experience, it was really good as there are not many Peer to Peer funding companies in India. It gave me exposure to the industry. It gave me opportunities to meet with the senior management and understand the process also discuss my ideas with them.
About the mentor - My mentor was Mr. Raghavendra Pratap Singh who is the Co-Founder of i2i Funding. It was a great learning to work under someone who has such an enormous experience. He was very helpful throughout the course of the internship. This enabled my learning and also helping the company with my project. It was overall a good experience at i2i Funding as a Management Trainee for two months. It gave me a chance to understand the Peer to Peer Funding company model and also to understand their basics of Credit risk assessment they do on their borrowers.
I would like with a note that making use of the opportunity given to you by the company will help you a lot in understanding the various issues and process related to the industry. It was a good two months which gave me a chance to enhance myself.
