A Waitlister's Agony

Week after week of speculation,
Finally, there it was,
That which could change my life,
My dreams and ambitions.

Converted - jubilant celebrations around,
Rejected - despondent faces,
Wait, here come the misfits,
Hanging by a thread with hopes abound.

And so begins once again,
The endless Wait,
Spend my time analysing,
Trackers that they create.

I watch the numbers as they go,
Counting in reverse,
Pray fervently to all the Gods,
Hoping for the Zero.

The worst HELL though,
Is not knowing,
If I'm your Number 1,
Or Number Hundred to 1.

So I frantically look through history,
Turn to Pagal guys for advice,
Pester the AO with calls,
Check emails day and night.

For I can neither mourn nor rejoice,
Nor Rendezvous and act nice,
Until I know for sure,
If three letters will change my life.

Disclaimer: Although written on a lighter note, this article in no way undermines the struggle that one faces as a Waitlisted Candidate.
Waiting is tough.
After all how many months have we waited since January? Adding a few more? No, Thank you!
Not knowing if you'll make it through, end up settling, give up or be brave enough to have another go is tougher.
Well, you're almost at the finish line, which leads to the start of an even bigger race.
So, until then, just hang in there.
As cliché as it may sound, something good for you is definitely in store.
Good Luck! And May the odds be ever in your favour.
