The day finally arrived when we had to move out of our hostel comfort and move into the corporate world. Being ranked 14th amongst the best places to work at, I was already excited to get a flavor of the culture and the respect this organization has commanded over the years. The induction proved to be an apt start for the same.
The first day of the internship was marked with a lot of unknown faces. Keeping myself restricted to my college mates, I realized it was important to network. However, there was confusion all around. Then came the ice breaker session - Tell interesting facts about yourself. We all shared a healthy laugh during the session and finally got acquainted to each other. The food served was amazing and the human resources department ensured we had a few goodies to take back home.
Then came the introductory sessions from few of the most senior leaders of the organization. We all felt grateful for them taking out time and gracing the occasion. Mahindra, being a federation of companies, allowed individual company leaders to give a brief outline of what the industry entailed and how it aligns itself to the values of Mahindra as a group. I was particularly quite enthralled by the talks of Dr. Pawan Goenka and Mr. V S Parthasarathy. The sessions were quite interactive and it felt great to put forward our views and gain a deeper understanding of the missions and the challenges.
The one which took all of our hearts away was the interactive session with Mr. Anand Mahindra. We got an opportunity to visit his residential place where he blew all of our minds away with his charisma, humility and a mesmerizing conversation. It soon boiled down upon us the personality which drove the core philosophy of Mahindra. High Tea was served and there was also a birthday celebration organized for one of the interns.
We then paid a visit to the Kandivali office where in leaders from the AFS industry provided their views. The Human resources department had also tied up with a vendor for organizing a networking session which ignited our creative side and brought out the child in us. On the last day of induction, a design workshop was organized to better prepare us for the projects that lay ahead. The day and induction ended insightfully.
To put forth the summary, 6 days of induction gave us a robust flavor of Mahindra as a group and helped us to forge strong bonds amongst ourselves!
