My internship story starts with phases of mixed emotions, as everyone was excited to go to a new place and start working, whereas I got a chance to work as an intern in my hometown, Delhi-NCR, well I had the privilege to learn and earn while staying with my family.

I interned in BFSI sector, with i2i Funding (RNVP Technology Pvt. Ltd.) an NBFC-P2P, a great company which gives a platform to learn and have great exposure, but having worked at a reputed corporate and now going to work at a start-up gave me jitters, and guess what? My jitters were valid!

I was a management trainee and was responsible to do gap analysis and compliance of Master Directions - Non-Banking Financial Company – Peer to Peer Lending Platform (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2017 and prepare a process to overcome the deviations if any.

On my first day, my colleague and I had a brief meeting with the Director to discuss the plan of action and the end results that were expected out of this project, we had good discussion and understanding of the project and this was the first time that I was asked to handle a whole project on my own, with of course some insightful guidance from our Director. In 10 months this was the first time I could actually feel how it is going to be after completion of the degree.

And the jitters that I was talking about, well we both were solely responsible for our work respectively but also had to make few decisions on our own, which was unlike my previous corporate experience. One of the major concerns for me was to interact with the seniors there and make them understand my take on the project and process so as to implement the same, and becomes difficult to change one’s perception when that person has been working for almost 2-3 years under that process and knows the company inside out.

The interaction with the seniors and acceptance of the transition in the business process of the company by the employees was made easy with the great support of my mentor, Mr. Raghavendra Singh, an IIM Calcutta alumnus and ex-merchant mariner has more than 10 years of global experience in Product development, e-commerce, operations, digital marketing and client servicing and is part of the founding team and Director at i2iFunding, his continuous guidance and him helping me to tweak my thinking according to scenarios not only made me work on my analytical thinking but also helped to deal with some corporate situations like how to put up my point in front of an experienced person if there are clashes in the point of view. My mentor made sure to give me his precious insights which not only can be used in professional life but also in personal life and are going to be with me throughout.

All in all, it was a lifetime experience to work with i2iFunding and get exposure by working under various industry experts and getting the opportunity to develop the process to nullify the deviations and enhance the business process.
