Have you been overlooked? Rejected? Dejected? I have, on more than one occasion but I shall share one such instance in the interest of time. It all started at just before the end term exams for the 7th semester of my engineering college. I had already received a campus placement at a company in Bombay however I was notified that I would be held from giving an exam due to shortage of attendance and would have to reappear for the whole semester to attend the classes for that subject. That’s where it all started. While my batchmates started their careers, I was attending classes for one subject in the 9th semester. I had also lost the offer I had at hand. It was humiliating for one but at the same time I knew I couldn’t let that get to my head. As was no longer eligible to sit for placements, I decided to learn as much as I could with the time that I had at hand.

I started exploring fields that interested me. I knew I wanted to pursue a management degree in the future but given my recent shortcomings, I was sure I would not make the cut into premier institutions. Digital marketing seemed like the obvious choice to help build my profile. It was exciting, fresh and engaging. I dove in headfirst. By the end of it all, I came out of college with more than one call for jobs in Digital Marketing. Today, I have about 3 years of experience in Digital Marketing and have worked with some very prolific brands and Agencies. Even the keenest of eyes wouldn’t notice the blemish on my profile. Today I’m am only striving to be better and am currently pursuing a PGDM at T. A. Pai Management Institute.

You may get rejected, may be wronged, may mess things up but don’t ever stop trying. Be better, do better. I have.
