Budding Finance managers at SIBM Bengaluru now have access to a state of the art Bloomberg Terminal within the campus. For over 20 years, Bloomberg has partnered with leading educational institutions worldwide, empowering students with hands-on knowledge of markets and finance. Now, that power comes to SIBM Bengaluru. Only a handful of b-schools in India have such terminals and SIBM B is the latest entrant to that prestigious league.
Courtesy the Bloomberg terminal, the students of SIBM B now literally have the license to access all the financial aspects of the financial markets, which include equities, currencies, commodities, money markets, government and municipal securities, mortgages, indices, insurance and legal information.
Further, from the marketing perspective, it helps analyse the social sentiments of brands – how a brand and its categories are functioning in line with the competition. This helps to identify and assess several segments on the basis of factors such as segment - wise analysis, geographical analysis etc.
The Bloomberg Terminal seamlessly integrates the very best in real-time data, news analytics and research. Working on this terminal will make the students aware of the functionalities of the finance industry and add quality to finance related subjects from both a theoretical and practical standpoint. The Terminal will also enable students to simulate financial markets using its communication system, trade messaging and OTC trading tools. The Terminal will further provide ample networking opportunities to the students to connect with industry professionals and potential recruiters.
BFSI being a major recruiting sector at SIBM B, students’ hands on experience and familiarity with the scope and operations of such a widely used database in the industry will go a long way in boosting prospective recruits’ candidature.
SIBM B boasts of the following three students nominated for the Bloomberg Champions program 2016:
- a) Zahid Jamal
- b) Nikita Ochani
- c) Sriram Adaikkalavan
“Bloomberg is one of the best real-time market data used globally by leading financial institutions. SIBM B currently houses 8 terminals that are easily accessible to students, who view information and analyse it to apply the learnings of lectures to real time data.”, says Nikita.
Sriram says, “We students understand the significance of the Bloomberg Terminal in analysing real-time data. It enhances our knowledge and helps us attain a competitive edge in academic projects, competitions, research work and investment analysis.”
The aforementioned students have undergone advanced training from Bloomberg and would be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the adoption of Bloomberg in various aspects of SIBM B’s campus life and further transfer their knowledge, enabling other students to learn about the functionalities of the Terminal.
