Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak (IIM- R) witnessed a very enthusiastic response from the students and the general public to a blood donation camp organised here in association with the Red Cross Society and HDFC Bank on 8th December 2013. The event was co-ordinated by the Social Development Cell of IIM-R.

Spiritual Quotient: Is it relevant in MBA?

Right-brained individuals are artistic, creative, emotional and good at big picture thinking while the left brained individuals are analytical, logical and comfortable with numbers. Believing in this conventional wisdom, we quickly jump to the conclusion that those who consistently operate from their right brain have a high Emotional Quotient (EQ) while those with an active left -brain have a high Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Preponderance of this traditional view of the human brain leads to erroneous career choices, limiting behaviors and in some cases psychosocial disorders such as identity crisis, social alienation, anxiety and depression.

Do I have a reason to do my MBA?

The funny thing is that I think the answer to me is substantially clearer at the end of thirty plus years after I exited the hallowed portals of IIM Calcutta at what was then their newly minted campus at Joka. A secondary question that I will also try to answer is: Was my Engineering Degree from IIT Kharagpur redundant in the face of the MBA, a waste of tax payers’ money or did it also contribute to my work and career.
