By an interesting coincidence, I spent two successive days last week attending events related to manufacturing competitiveness. The first was a panel discussion organised by CII Malwa Zone to coincide with the launch of the Prime Minister of India’s new “Make for India” campaign, and the second was a day-long seminar designed by the Institute for Competitiveness (IfC) that culminated in the award of the Porter Prize.

We've recently started reporting on the final placements at IIM Indore UAE in our InsideIIM format. Our knowledge about this program continues to remain a bit sketchy, because of its short history and because it is out of our network. With the summer placement season just around the corner (with some colleges having completed the process already) talking about how power of positivity can work wonders, is of relevance. Amidst the multitude of pre-placement presentations, innumerable lengthy forms to be filled & the general clutter that almost engulfs the entire batch, even the most experienced of students find themselves lost & helpless at times.

IIM Shillong bags prestigious Aditya Birla Scholarship for 4th consecutive year
Gaurav Jain, a first year PGDM student at IIM Shillong, has been awarded the Aditya Birla Scholarship. He is the fourth student of IIM Shillong to receive the prestigious scholarship following the footsteps of Nikesh Patra (2011), Vaibhav Annam (2012) and Apurva Jain (2013). This year, three students were shortlisted from IIM Shillong for the event – of which Gaurav Jain finally won the scholarship. Says an elated Gaurav, “I am extremely happy to have made my institute proud. It was a great opportunity for me and I am glad that I converted this opportunity to fruition. Interacting with the corporates and students from other IIMs and B-schools was a great learning experience.”
