How Many Women Are CEOs At The Largest Companies In India And America?

In 2020, the Fortune magazine published its well-known Fortune 500 rankings of companies, which is essentially "the ultimate business scorecard" of the top five hundred largest American businesses based on their total revenues for their respective fiscal years. The 2020 rankings, which were the 66th edition of the Fortune 500 rankings, showed an interesting observation: the number of women running America's top corporations hit a record-high. Yet, the big picture is less than encouraging, since only 8.0% of the 500 CEOs on Fortune's list were women, which itself was an improvement over the 7.2% figure in 2019. In the week leading up to the international women's day, we explore how many women in India and the US have made it to the top at the world's largest companies.
