After scoring a 730 in GMAT, Kaushik moved onto the next stage, which was the selection process. To identify which b schools he would be a good fit in, he began communicating with alums and current students from those b schools, asking to meet and getting to know the culture. He calls b-schools abroad as cults, where the culture and traditions are very strong. Of the ones he got in touch with, INSEAD was where he felt most at home. Ultimately, the people you are surrounded by make up for a very big part of your b school experience.
The latest edition of the InsideIIM Academic Diversity report has brought out interesting facts and figures around diversity in Indian business schools. “During our placements, Investment Banking was the most preferred job and also the most lucrative one. I didn’t know much about IB and had an interest in an asset management kind of role. However, since most people wanted to get into IB, I thought I should try it too because if I don’t, I will be missing out on something. However, when I actually landed up interning in an investment banking job, I got to know the finer nuances and realised that this is not the kind of job that I really enjoyed and that's not something I would like to make a career in”, says Prerna Lotlikar, VP of Investments at Pandim Consultancy, CFA and SPJIMR Finance Alumni.
