Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big in My Life?
My life has been different from others since the very beginning it had been defined by my father’s job in Merchant Navy he used to stay overseas for extended periods of times and communication was extremely difficult, only when he was on ports and then to we could have only limited conversation because of the high prices charged, we used to communicate through letters and the brief scarce phone calls. Communication had such huge barriers. However since my mother changed her number to idea (now Vodafone idea Ltd.) we have been able to communicate very easily and for extended periods. Our lives have changed so drastically, now we feel that my father is just one phone call away, ABG has literally helped bring families closer. My father due to his absence for 6-8 months a year trusted the Aditya Birla Capital limited to invest money, he trusted them with all investments made through the portfolio management services provided by them. He knew our money would be handled with utmost care and caution keeping in mind our well-being. My father trusted Aditya Birla Group since the very beginning having utmost faith in the services they provide knowing that we were in good hands. This also enabled my father to invest in Aditya Birla Sun Life mutual fund after much research and deliberation. Since the very beginning my father has been very interest in finance and learnt a lot on his own reading researching, I have seen him take sound and calculated decisions in finance. This early introduction to taking smart, far sighted, calculated and well researched decisions by my father had me interested in finance. I knew I wanted to do an MBA very clearly while doing my graduation in economics. I prepared for CAT and in my first attempt I did not perform very well, it being a drop year that I took specifically for preparation due to being in a bad place and not proper planning I could not perform well, I got into mediocre colleges however I wished to study in one of the top 10 colleges of the country. I took a leap and decided to give CAT once again, this time I decided to take smart decisions and enrolled in a finance course with University of London International Programs while preparing once again this time with a completely different positive mind set. After preparing again, this time I did way better than before and prepared really well, I was finally able to get into MDI Gurgaon. I was thus faced with an impasse after my first attempt and could have given up and settled yet I decided to take the more difficult and a path with ups and down yet I was focused and decided to thread through the harder path. This year of hard work taught me a lot, I believe this year of difficulty taught me to not give up and approach life optimistically in a positive way, as I believe you are who you think you are . As rightly said by Henry Ford If you think you can do it or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.
As a child, something I loved was getting to stay in different cities and states, make new friends and experience different lifestyles. The onus of this rests on my father who underwent frequent transfers. Back in 2007, my studies were suffering so it was decided that I would be sent to a hostel, as I was a 13-year-old grown up which I thought back then was huge. I was the one who accepted changes with open arms, atleast that is what I have learnt in the past few years. But this time it was different, it was without mom and dad. It was without a home. As a kid who is very close to her father, staying in a hostel was hurtful and upsetting. It was my father who visited me during the weekends. I remember the smell, the feeling, the sudden rush of adrenaline in my body when the hostel warden shouted my name calling me to meet my father. Those Sundays were the best spent. I remember my father dressed in suits of different colour but one brand(Something I never knew until I grew up) It was Van Heusen. His love for the brand made me admire the sense of choice he has. I associate Aditya Birla Group with love, compassion and belongingness. To me ABG is togetherness. The euphoria I experienced, every time I looked at my father during his short yet impactful visits, I remember the feeling when he hugged me. To me ABG means comfort; it is what home means. It has been a symbol of excellence. If that is what we call big, then yes ABG has been a part of one of the fondest memories of my life.
