Dreams don’t come with rules!
I have born and brought up in a middle class family where children usually have less pocket money but always have big dreams in their eyes. I too had one. Having a father who plays awesome ‘dholak’ make you look up to him as your music teacher. But I was attracted towards western music and wanted to learn and play drums. Though, the knack of music beats was there in my blood from the boyhood, but I didn’t had the drums to voice those beats. We couldn’t afford it. But, I have this striving-till-the-end attitude whenever I confront anything seeming difficult on first sight. So, I put on a song, maxed the sound and I started playing beats on my PC table. That was the first step towards learning and playing beats. I learnt the basics of music beats myself by carefully listening the tracks. But, then I realized table couldn’t produce bass sound. I searched for things that can produce that low pitched bass sounds. And I discovered ‘The bucket’. So, I started playing buckets. That was a point from actual drumming started. I played quadruples, triples, and paradiddles and I went on and on and never returned.
