A story of hope with Aditya Birla's UltraTech Cement-Suniti Nair-SIBM Bengaluru
It was a quaint morning in the year 2001, as per usual it was our little family’s tradition to sit together for morning tea. This particular morning since it happened to be the 26th of January we all sat watching the Republic Days parade. My parents sat on the sofa and I was comfortably seated on the floor, I suddenly felt as if they were shaking their legs vigorously, an ill mannered habit I was taught. Before I could ask them why they were doing that, everything began shaking, the decorative bells in our living room swayed and so did the walls. Scared and confused we all quickly rushed out of our homes. Only to realize that the rest of our society was outside on the road as well. One of the more graphic memories from the day was water gushing out of our society tank as it exploded during the earthquake and my very scared best friend running away from it. Nothing was the same after that, we realized the magnitude of what had happened. It was an earthquake and a massive one at that.
