Waking up early in the morning and there are no meet and greets with my parents or sister, instead there is a rush, a rush to make sure that I can prepare some food for myself for breakfast and meet the never ending deadlines of MBA life. A girl who had never seen anything other than comforts of home, being pampered was the normal order and Bangalore was my world. Cut back to the present, Mumbai has taught me much more in the last 40 days than Bangalore ever did in the 24 years I stayed there. They say Mumbai is “The city that never sleeps” and the day I arrived here I really felt it, people running round the clock, involved in a never ending rat race to get a little ahead of the other one. The task to survive in a city so unrelenting seemed daunting as ever. Nerves were very evident in the first week where being mentally strong all day wasn’t an option but the war cry every day. Few days went by this way where I felt like crying my heart out seeing how demanding life can be. But after the first week of struggles, pulling myself together seemed the only way forward left for me. To achieve this I made sure that I grab the bull by its horns and make sure I am a couple of steps ahead of what is being demanded off me by my college and this city in general. I went out and made sure I learn to do a new thing every day which I have never done before, come out of my comfort zone and do the uncomfortable. I learnt how to make chapatti for starters. Then it was time to do my own dishes. Slowly, day by day, I was seeing myself metamorphose into this new independent and confident being who never backs down easily. After staying in Mumbai for well over a month on my own I can clearly vehement one fact that winning is only fun when you take a little damage.

Personally, ABG was the first group to open a huge store in a newly built mall in my town. Surat was still developing and people still heavily depended on local brands until Pantaloons was opened in town and it was like the luxury that was introduced to us. Tapping into an untapped potential market was a very risky but risk-assessed decision made by ABG. Later into years, when formals came into picture in my life, ABG group was the saviour again. It provided not only high-end segment but also low and middle end segment with brands like People.
