Part A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life

Living in Howrah, West Bengal, I would often notice the huge wall on my way to school with the words Hindalco written on them. Little did I know then that it was one of the first factories in India to revolutionise the Indian industries as a whole producing almost 45000tpa now. Since it's establishment way back in 1938, Aditya Birla Group has touched millions on lives around the globe, including mine.

Vodafone - Idea group is one of the largest player in the telecom industry, connecting people across the globe. The brilliant advertisement jingle from Idea with the catchphrase 'Walk and Talk' still rings in my ears and has me humming to the tune to it.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, has made it possible for Indians to be able to get the taste of Western lifestyle with numerous dealership that ABG has with foreign brands. This is also complemented by the great quality of fabrics that the company has and the in-house brands like Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Louis Philippe and Peter England. These are now brands that every adult and teenager like me, has come to love and appreciate.

Interning at Aditya Birla Money (as it was called then), was an interesting learning experience for me. The division was equity trading where in I was researching about the banking sector. It was then that I learned how many parts to the fiancial sector was there for the average investor, both on the buying and the selling side of the securities. It was what drew me to this sector and hence made me realise I want to make my career in it.

Part B: How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far

Life's journey is a tough road. It is natural to assume that there is bound to be faliures in that journey and when you try and overcome that, success waits. This I realised the hard way.

The year before last, I was preparing for the enterance exams for joining one of the premiere B-schools in India, like many other people in the country. However, this was simultaneously done with the final exams of my last trimester at the undergraduate course I was studing in. Perhaps because of the reason, I did not score as gloriously as I should have, but still enough that might giv me chance to make me realise my ambitions.

With the few calls that I got for the interviews to join the college, I was still not able to convert any of those colleges either. This put me in a dangerous position, since I had not planned through for this scenario. So what I ended up doing was to look for a job. But to no avail, I did not recieve any of thoe job offers either.

It was at this point that I realised that there might have been some place that I was lacking in. Hence, I made up my mind to grind and to work at it, with a lag year, to improve myself. And now, a year and a half later, I am writing this artlcle, realising that I am one step closer to making my ambitions come true. It is only determination and hard work that can get you out of tough times and make you be able to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. And if in any case, you still fail, it is an indicator that you came up short on the hard work.
