FMS Delhi MBA Admission 2027–29: Selection Criteria, CAT 2026 Weightage & Interview Process Explained

The Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi, has released its admission criteria for the MBA Full-Time batch of 2027–2029, outlining how candidates will be shortlisted and evaluated for final admission through CAT 2026.

Unlike several B-schools that place a significant emphasis on work experience or graduation scores, FMS has specified a selection process that gives 50% weightage to CAT 2026, 20% to Class 10 and 12 marks, and 30% to the interview-stage components.

The selection process also includes an additional 5 marks for women candidates at both the shortlisting and interview stages.

Here is a breakdown of FMS Delhi's admission criteria and what they mean for MBA aspirants.

1. FMS Delhi MBA 2027–29: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the MBA Full-Time programme must have completed or be pursuing a Bachelor's degree after 12 years of formal schooling.

The minimum graduation marks required are:

Category Minimum graduation marks
General / Unreserved 50%
SC / ST Passing marks
OBC Non-Creamy Layer / EWS / PwD / CW 45%

Candidates appearing for their final-year Bachelor's examination can also apply, provided they expect to meet the eligibility criteria when their results are declared. They must submit their final results to FMS at the time of admission.

Candidates with CGPA scores must provide the equivalent percentage along with an official CGPA-to-percentage conversion table issued by their university or institution.

2. How FMS Delhi Will Shortlist Candidates Through CAT 2026

FMS will use a weighted CAT 2026 score for shortlisting candidates for the interview process. The three CAT sections have different weightages:

CAT section Weightage
VARC 40%
DILR 30%
QA 30%
Total 100%

Additionally, women candidates will receive 5 extra marks for shortlisting to the interview process.

This means VARC carries the highest weight in the CAT-based shortlisting score, followed by DILR and QA.

3. FMS Delhi Final Selection Criteria 2027–29

Candidates shortlisted for the interview process will be evaluated on six components. The institute has assigned the following weightages:

Selection component Weightage
Weighted CAT 2026 Score 50%
Class 10 marks 10%
Class 12 marks 10%
Discussion on Statement of Purpose 10%
Extempore 5%
Personal Interview 15%
Total 100%

In addition to these weightages, women candidates appearing for the interview will receive 5 additional marks.

How are Class 10 and Class 12 marks calculated?

FMS has specified the following score slabs for both Class 10 and Class 12:

Percentage obtained Weightage awarded
Below 60% 0
60% to less than 75% 5%
75% and above 10%

Class 10 and Class 12 scores together account for 20% of the final selection criteria.

4. How Much Does Each CAT Section Contribute to Final Selection?

CAT 2026 accounts for 50% of the final selection score. Within this, FMS has assigned different weightages to VARC, DILR and QA.

CAT section Weight within CAT score Effective final selection weight
VARC 40% 20%
DILR 30% 15%
QA 30% 15%
Total 100% 50%

Therefore, VARC alone contributes 20% to the overall final selection score, while DILR and QA contribute 15% each.

5. What Happens During the FMS Interview Process?

The interview-stage evaluation consists of three components:

  • Discussion on Statement of Purpose (10%): Every candidate will participate in an individual discussion on their Statement of Purpose.
  • Extempore (5%): Candidates will be evaluated through an individual Extempore.
  • Personal Interview (15%): Each candidate will undergo an individual Personal Interview.

Together, these three components account for 30% of the final selection score.

Candidates must also produce their original certificates and mark sheets at the time of the interview. The final list of selected candidates will be declared after the selection process for all candidates has been completed.

6. FMS Delhi MBA 2027–29: Seats and Reservation

FMS has specified 251 sanctioned seats for its MBA Full-Time programme, along with supernumerary seats under different categories.
