According to Forbes, the 2,000 companies on the list collectively generated $56 trillion in annual revenue, $5.5 trillion in profits, and held $272 trillion in assets. Most notably, their combined market capitalization surged by nearly 32%, adding more than $30 trillion in shareholder value compared to last year.
AI Is The Biggest Story Behind This Year's Rankings
While banks continue to dominate the list because of their massive balance sheets, the biggest shift in 2026 comes from one trend: Artificial Intelligence.
As highlighted by Forbes, companies building AI infrastructure and software have seen extraordinary growth in market value. Semiconductor manufacturers, computer hardware companies, software firms, and technology giants like Microsoft and Meta have collectively become a much larger part of the Global 2000.
These AI-linked companies now account for 209 companies on the list, up from 186 last year. Even more striking is their combined market value, which has nearly doubled—from $23.9 trillion to $41.4 trillion.
According to Forbes, these companies contributed to more than half of the total increase in market value across this year's Global 2000, underscoring how AI continues to reshape investor sentiment and business growth worldwide.
