Forbes World’s Top Companies for Women 2026: Top 50 Companies Ranked
What makes a company a good place for women to work? Beyond salary and benefits, factors such as equal opportunities, career progression, workplace flexibility, parental support and representation in leadership can shape a woman’s experience at work.
The Forbes World’s Top Companies for Women 2026 ranking identifies 400 companies recognised for their workplace practices and employee perceptions around gender equality. Compiled by Forbes in partnership with Statista, the ranking features global employers across technology, banking, consumer goods, healthcare, fashion, manufacturing and several other industries.
Microsoft ranks No. 1 globally, followed by Apple and Manulife. L’Oréal and MAIF complete the top five. Indian IT company HCLTech also features among the top 50, securing the 40th position.
Here is a look at what the ranking measures, how the companies were selected and the top 50 companies on the list.
What is the Forbes World’s Top Companies for Women 2026 ranking?
The Forbes World’s Top Companies for Women 2026 is the sixth annual edition of the global ranking developed by Forbes and Statista. It recognises 400 multinational companies based on employee feedback, perceptions of workplace practices and the representation of women in senior leadership.
The ranking aims to identify employers that are perceived positively by women and demonstrate strengths in areas relevant to gender equality at work.
Unlike rankings based solely on revenue, market capitalisation or company size, this list considers how employees view their organisations and how companies perform on workplace factors that matter to women.
The 2026 edition surveyed more than 140,000 women across 61 countries, evaluating multinational employers before selecting the final 400 companies.

How were the world’s top companies for women selected?
Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to conduct an independent survey of women employees and combine the responses with company-level leadership data.
The methodology evaluates companies across three key components.
1. Direct employee recommendations: 50%
Half of the overall score comes from women’s assessments of their own employers. Respondents evaluate their workplace experience and indicate how likely they are to recommend their company as an employer.
This component gives substantial weight to the experiences of women working within the organisation.
2. External perceptions of employers: 35%
Another 35% of the score comes from how respondents perceive other companies, particularly regarding gender-related workplace practices.
These assessments consider areas such as pay equity, career development, parental leave, workplace flexibility and the handling of discrimination concerns.
This component helps evaluate employer reputation beyond the experiences of current employees.
3. Women's representation in leadership: 15%
The remaining 15% is based on the representation of women in senior leadership positions, including executive roles and company boards.
This adds an objective leadership-related measure to the survey-based assessment.
Eligibility criteria
Companies needed a significant international presence, operating across at least two of the six continental macro-regions. They also had to be headquartered in a country where at least 70% of the gender gap had been closed, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report.
Survey data collected over three years was considered, with greater weight assigned to more recent feedback from current employees.
The final scores determined which 400 companies made the ranking.

For Indian professionals, the ranking offers a starting point for researching global employers. However, the overall position should be considered alongside role-specific information, location, leadership practices and employee feedback when evaluating a potential workplace.
What should women professionals look at beyond rankings?
A strong position on a global employer list can be a useful starting point, but it should not be the only factor when choosing an organisation.
Professionals evaluating employers can also consider:
- Pay equity: Whether compensation and promotion decisions are fair and transparent.
- Career progression: Access to leadership opportunities, mentorship and skill development.
- Workplace flexibility: Policies around remote work, working hours and personal commitments.
- Parental support: Maternity, paternity and other family-care benefits.
- Workplace safety: How effectively an organisation addresses harassment and discrimination.
- Leadership representation: Whether women have meaningful representation in senior decision-making roles.
The experience of employees can also vary across countries, functions, teams and levels of seniority. It is therefore useful to combine rankings with current employee reviews, company policies and conversations with people working in the organisation.
