That is the first line a fresher engineer like me heard from an amazing teacher Mrs Manasi Phadke. A typical Punekar woman,as she says she is with a lot of sarcasm. As an engineer and an aspiring management student, I was very much afraid of any subject involving commerce or economics but that was completely changed in my first two hours of classroom experience of Microeconomics. So basically in any B.school faculty uses a lot of computer to show ppts and videos but she is different everything just flows so lucid from her and with an extreme passion for what she does. She rarely takes the help of any ppts or videos; its just all sheer experience that she has.
A jovial, vivacious and extremely chirpy professor. Within five minutes, Mrs. Manasi Phadke had managed to slay whatever demons had hitherto been lurking in my mind and turn microeconomics into a different ball game for me altogether. I’d been used to professors churning out huge barrels of numbers, diagrams and models, just like a production conveyor belt, and I would often be found thinking of sunnier pastures. But hey presto! Microeconomics actually made sense! I came expecting Greek and Latin, but it was English, and how!! We started off with the problems of the local rural agrarian economy, and the feeling that I had was, economics isn’t the big-horned bullish monster that many claim to be so! The class was lively, often crackling with electric humour, not least due to the efforts of Mrs. Phadke herself.
The best part of being in her class is to know her many experiences and how subtly she manages to give us a reality check of all the malpractices in the real world that she herself had came across. In most of the classes students are either sleeping at the back or checking their profiles in the veil of making notes on laptops but I never see a single pair of eyes drooping during her lectures.
Thanks to her for making the classes so fun and engaging, there is a lot to learn from her and she is definitely a person to look up to.
